I have a basic checking account in which my social security income checks are deposited. With me being on disability, I just recently went to go get a money order and ended up having to get a cashier’s check, which is okay. I was charged an $8 fee. These fees can add up fast and are pretty astronomical for me being on disability. Yes, this was from a stimulus check. Yet when money is really tight as it is now $8 is a lot! Why would anyone on disability have to pay fees?

Hello Cassiopeia. Sorry to hear you were presented with such as fee. Please understand, however, that we are not Chase or affiliated with Chase. We are Upgraded Points, a blog specializing in points, miles, travel, and personal finance information. The fees you’re charged are based on the type of account you have. I would speak with the branch manager before paying that fee again and ask if there are alternative options such as an electronic transfer or writing a check. Thank you for reading.

Does Chase bank do wire transfers and is there any problem for beginners?

Hi William. Yes, Chase does do wire transfers and I am unaware of any restriction that an account has to be open for a certain amount of time before you can do so. If you have a need to do wire transfers, I would sit down with a local Chase bank representative, open an account, and discuss your situation with them.
