You should update the section on travelers cheques. I believe AmEx ceased issuing new cheques in 2020. I can find no official press release, but it does not appear possible to buy AmEx cheques anywhere. On AmEx’s website, there is only information on how to redeem previously purchased cheques. In my opinion, travelers cheques have been impractical and useless, even as an emergency backup, since the 1990s.

I just called AmEx and they said that they discontinued offering traveler’s cheques in March 2021. They will still honor them, if you have unused ones.

Bill, did you buy the travelers cheques from American Express? Or was it from a bank or credit union that still had old checks on hand?

Hi Marlene. You can redeem them online or search here for a location where you can exchange them. https://www.americanexpress.com/us/travel/travelers-cheques/index.html
