Closed my Uber account after the driver screwed up a pre-scheduled pick-up at my home. I had to hop in my car last minute to get to the airport and make my flight (6AM.) Uber’s customer service response was simply not charging me for the ride I did not take. They suck, and Lyft is better paid and have trained drivers.

I’m a bit confused. They did or did not charge you for the ride you did not take? In any case, sorry to hear about your frustration. 90-95% of the time Uber has been great for us and I’ve found their customer service to be very good. Sometimes we’ve needed to get our $5 back on a ride we cancelled (because the drive just didn’t turn up) and they do it without question…in our experience.

I don’t like Uber – I only use it when my Lyft ride will cost more or the wait is too long for me at the time. It all depends on the time of day and/or how many cars are available at the time. Talking with the drivers, Uber doesn’t care about the drivers and it’s good that more people are becoming aware of Lyft but unfortunately Uber still has access to most of the business.

I would like to know how to opt-out of the Uber rewards program? It says that you cannot save Uber points because they expire, then it says that I owe 3 dollars for a previous trip, I don’t want to use the Uber points just let me pay for my rides from my bank.

Hi Donnell,
For what I can see, there does not appear to be a way to opt-out of earning rewards with the Uber Loyalty program for your rides. You can, however, select your bank card as your preferred payment method though the app.

Uber doesn’t honor the rewards program. UBER – WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
I was hesitant to ride with uber again for sometime after I realized how difficult it was to reach customer service. Recently I started using it again because a friend showed me how much cheaper it was than Lyft. I got to be a platinum member, but after a recent terrible experience with customer service, I stopped using their service completely.
Uber gives you $5 dollar rewards, every 500 points, which you can supposedly apply to your rides, even with the feature they have in the app to change the payment method after you take the ride. I did this with 3 rides and they never returned my money, the rides in total were $170, and I have reached customer service explaining the situation, I have even sent copies of the invoices they emailed me, to proof they say that those rides where $0 (they should return the money they charged me), and no one has bothered honoring the rewards I earned, they reply to messages just in the morning and the email thread is managed by a different person every time and no one gives me an answer that sounds like a human being is at the other side.

Citi Premier doesn’t pay 3x on Uber rides. Please correct your info. They pay 3x on airfare and hotels.

Hi Paul,
I’ve updated that language in the post. Thank you for pointing that out.

None of my reward points have shown up on any of my receipts so I don’t know how many we have, but I use Uber all the time. Can help me with the situation? It’ll be much much appreciated because I spend a lot of money with you guys.

Hi Ricky,
We aren’t Uber so you’ll need to contact them directly for help with your account. I hope you get everything all figured out.
