American Express offers some excellent statement credits for card members that, if maximized, can easily cover the cost of the card’s annual fee.

The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express is one of our favorite cash-back cards and on top of the excellent cash-back rates, card members can earn up to $120 annual Equinox+ credit upon enrollment.

Equinox is a luxury fitness company with gym locations across the U.S., but Equinox+ is an online platform with a variety of fitness classes available via an app.

Although not all card members will be able to fully take advantage of this monthly credit, if you are already a member of Equinox+ or have been contemplating it, this is a great way to save some money on the monthly membership fee.

Let’s take a look at what you need to know and how to properly enroll for this credit.

Hot Tip: If you’ve been considering this card, be sure to read how to find the $300 welcome offer for the Amex Blue Cash Preferred card (current public offer is $250).

How Does the Amex Equinox+ Credit Work?

Unlike the $300 annual Equinox credit for holders of The Platinum Card® from American Express, the $10 monthly Equinox credit for the Amex Blue Cash Preferred card members is only valid for the Equinox+ by Equinox app.

The Equinox+ app is a great tool for anyone who likes to work out at home or who is always on the road and finds getting to the gym regularly to be difficult. With live and on-demand classes from expert instructors, getting a quality workout in is just a tap away.

Amex Blue Cash Preferred card members can receive up to a total of $10 in statement credits each month on membership fees for a stand-alone monthly membership to the Equinox+ app, up to $120 annually.

Normally, the Equinox+ app costs $39.99 before the statement credit, so, the $10 Amex Blue Cash Preferred card credit represents a 25% discount on the Equinox+ membership.

Hot Tip: To receive this benefit, you must enroll via your American Express Card Account. Purchases directly through the Equinox+ app or a third party will not trigger the credit.

Equinox+ App

The Equinox+ app is an excellent health and fitness app loaded with workouts from popular partners, such as SoulCycle and TB12.

Before you download the app (iOS, Android), be sure to sign up through your Amex account first.

Here is what you can expect to find in the app:

Equinox

Equinox is the home of high performance, and it is bringing that into your home.

With everything from MetCon3 to Tabata, you will find plenty of high-quality workouts to choose from.

SoulCycle

If you’ve been bit by the spinning bug, SoulCycle is one of the best ways to clip in and ride.

There are live and on-demand classes from popular instructors or just go for a free ride while on your bike at home.

HeadStrong

Having your head in the right place is extremely important.

HeadStrong offers thoughtfully guided mediations just a tap away.

PURE Yoga

Yogis will like this fitness partner.

PURE Yoga has classes for everyone from the first-timer to the seasoned yogi.

Precision Run

Having a coach in your ear can make all the difference on a long run.

Precision Run has guided walking and running classes whether on the treadmill or outdoors. Your call.

[solidcore]

If you want to get some pilates done from home, [solidcore] has some excellent workouts available.

TB12

Tom Brady’s fitness company, TB12, is focused on strength training, pliability, and targeted recovery.

These exercises will help you keep doing what you love, longer.

Everything Else You Need To Know

The $10 monthly credit is relatively straightforward, with the only thing to note is that you must sign up through your American Express Card Account and use your Amex Blue Cash Preferred card to pay online at equinoxplus.com.

Signing up directly through the Equinox+ app or via a third party will not trigger the monthly credit.

Existing Equinox+ members will not receive the benefit unless they change their Equinox+ membership to an online account, which can be done by contacting Equinox Member Experience.

Only Equinox+ monthly memberships are eligible for statement credits, any other charges from the Equinox+ app are not eligible.

Securing the Amex Blue Cash Preferred Card

The Amex Blue Cash Preferred card is one of our favorite cash-back cards for good reason.

Not even including the solid Equinox+ credits, the card offers:

  • 6% cash-back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1%)
  • 6% cash-back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions
  • 3% cash-back on transit purchases, including taxis, rideshare, parking, tolls, trains, buses, and more
  • 3% cash-back on gas station purchases
  • 1% cash-back on all other purchases

The card also has access to Amex Offers, as well as travel benefits and protections — all for a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95 annual fee (rates and fees).

If you’ve been considering adding a cash-back card to your wallet, the Amex Blue Cash Preferred card is certainly worth an extra look … especially with the impressive welcome offer.

Final Thoughts

The Amex Blue Cash Preferred card is a great credit card, and the Equinox+ monthly credit makes it even better.

Working out and staying healthy, whether from home or on the road, is a priority for many people. And having access to a high-quality online fitness platform (with a 25% discount) is a great deal.

Whether you are looking for some sweat-inducing HIIT workouts and spinning classes or if you prefer yoga and mediation, you will find it on the Equinox+ app.

Just be sure to follow the correct steps when signing up so you can guarantee your $10 monthly credits hit your account as they should!
