The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection from Chase is a collection of over 1,000 high-end properties around the world that offer exclusive benefits to select Chase cardmembers.

This hotel benefit is Chase’s answer to the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts program, which offers perks at luxury hotels to select American Express cardmembers.

In this post, we’ll show you all of the perks offered by The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection (LHRC) plus we’ll help you determine if you’re eligible for this program.

What is The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection?

The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection is a benefit offered by select Chase credit cards. When you book a hotel through this program, you’ll enjoy extra benefits and perks like resort credits, free breakfast, or upgrades. There are over 1,000 hotel, resort, and spa properties to choose from across the globe.

How to Book a Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection Property

You can book a Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection property online or by calling LHRC travel specialists at 855-234-2542.

To book online:

  1. Go to the LHRC website (or access through the Chase Travel Portal)
  2. Search your destination for properties
  3. Select your hotel
  4. Confirm your cardmember benefits and the benefits that are subject to availability
  5. Search your desired travel dates and select your room
  6. Confirm your reservation (occasionally a deposit will be required; you’ll complete your payment upon check-out)

After selecting a property, you’ll be able to see your guaranteed benefits plus those that are subject to availability. Image Credit: The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection

Who is Eligible for The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection?

This benefit can only be applied to the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card (formally the J.P. Morgan Palladium Card) and there’s even a separate landing page for these cardholders, along with select United credit cards.

You’ll be able to check to see if your card is eligible for Luxury Hotel & Resort benefits while searching for a hotel on the website. Image Credit: The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection

The following credit cards have advertised eligibility for The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection

The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection Benefits

Every time you stay at a Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection property and pay with an eligible Chase credit card, you’ll receive these benefits:

  • Daily breakfast for 2 people
  • Room upgrade (if available)
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Early check-in and late check-out (if available)
  • A special amenity unique to each property, such as lunch or dinner for 2, a spa treatment, golf green fee waivers, resort credit, airport transfers, or a welcome gift.

You’ll be able to see each property’s unique amenity before booking in the “Cardmember Benefits” section of each hotel’s listing.

Hot Tip: You can not use Chase Ultimate Rewards points to pay for a Luxury Hotel and Resort Collection stay. You also generally won’t earn hotel points or elite night credits when booking through Chase.

Price Comparisons

Let’s take a look at whether or not it makes sense to book a hotel through The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection.

Example #1: Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows, Arizona

We priced out a 4-night stay at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows in Arizona, and unfortunately, the rate through LHRC was significantly higher than booking directly through Hyatt as a World of Hyatt loyalty member.

The price difference between booking through LHRC versus booking as a World of Hyatt member was $460.83. After taking into account the $100 resort credit and free daily continental breakfast for 2, it’s a closer match-up, but we would still most likely opt for booking this through Hyatt.

4 Nights at Andaz Scottsdale Resort & BungalowsTotal Price
Booked through LHRC$2,480.66
Booked through Hyatt — member rate, advanced purchase$2,019.83
Booked through Hyatt — standard rate$2,480.66

Winner: Booking directly through World of Hyatt with the member rate, advanced purchase. However, if you need a rate that is refundable, booking through LHRC would be your best bet.

Example #2: The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii

Booking The Fairmont Orchid in Hawaii through The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection comes with a few benefits including a $100 food and beverage credit, full daily breakfast for 2, and premium internet access.

7 Nights at The Fairmont OrchidTotal Price
Booked through LHRC$4,053.14
Booked directly through the hotel$3,821.37

While it’s actually $231.77 cheaper to book this hotel directly, once you add in The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection benefits, it makes more sense to book through LHRC.

The breakfast at The Fairmont Orchid costs $38 per person so for a 7-night stay, that’s a value of $532! Add that to the additional $100 food and beverage credits and premium internet and you’ve got over $600 in value, which more than makes up for the $231 price difference.

Winner: Booking through The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection.

Example #3: Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, St. Lucia

Booking Sugar Beach in St. Lucia through LHRC will get you amenities like a $100 resort credit and full daily breakfast for 2. Let’s see how the prices stack up.

7 Nights at Sugar Beach, A Viceroy ResortTotal Price
Booked through LHRC$8,710.80
Booked directly through the hotel$7,929.60

There’s a $781.20 price difference here. Assuming breakfast at this luxury resort costs $40 per person per day and you max out your $100 resort credit, that would give you almost $700 in value, which is pretty close to the price difference. However, if you book through The Luxury Hotels & Resorts Collection, you’ll be eligible for a possible upgrade or late check-out.

Winner: Tie (the actual cost of breakfast at this resort plus the uncertainty of an upgrade make this one a toss-up).

Final Thoughts

The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection is a little known benefit that comes with select Chase credit cards, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, that has the potential to offer huge savings.

With this benefit, you’ll be eligible for perks like daily breakfast for 2 and free Wi-Fi plus room upgrades when you book a hotel through the LHRC program.

Booking through The Luxury Hotels & Resorts program will rarely be the cheapest option, but the added benefits can still make it a better deal than booking elsewhere.

I had a horrible experience with LHRC! I booked a trip to Belize, and they confirmed with me (booking email with all the details and trip ID) but never responded to numerous contacts from the hotel in Belize. I showed up on property and my entire booking was cancelled! It was incredibly distressing for me and my travel companion to show up and have to figure out if we needed to scramble to rebook or what! Fortunately it was edge season so we were able to get a booking, but I would honestly NEVER EVER work with this company again. They haven’t done anything to remedy this massive customer service fail that was entirely on them; I provided all the information, card eligibility, and details, but they never bothered to provide my contact info to the hotel, resulting in my reservation cancellation. Definitely not luxury or good quality customer service. Do NOT recommend.

If booking hotel through LHRC portal (i.e. not Chase Travel Portal), are you eligible for 10x earning bonus on your Chase Sapphire Reserve?

Keri Stooksbury

Hi George – According to the FAQ at https://www.lhrcollection.com/, you are charged at the time of stay by the property directly, so I believe this would fall under your 3x earn category for general travel. Thanks for reading!

How does someone with the Freedom/Freedom Unlimited card have access to the LRHC? It doesn’t appear as an option in my Chase account, and you can’t search the dedicated LRHC page without signing in with a Sapphire Reserve or eligible United card.

Hi Ben,

The Freedom Unlimited and Freedom do not have access to LHRC. I’ve just corrected the post.

What if I have a LRHC booking and no longer have my Chase card at the time of stay? Is there any issue paying with a different card?

Jarrod West

Hi Pete, You should not have to use that card to pay.

Can I book through another card and use my Sapphire to get the savings?
