I cannot find rooms at Swan using points. Is there a secret to getting rooms there, besides paying out of pocket?

Hi Jane,
What points were you hoping to use for a stay at Swan?

Quick question: I have another $300 cash back from my CSR coming in January. Are there any websites I can purchase season passes where it’ll code as a “travel” expense to trigger that credit?
I hope my question makes sense!
Thank you! 🙂

Hi Joe,
I cannot offer any specific website recommendations, but many 3rd party OTA websites like Expedia or Orbitz code as travel for the Chase Sapphire Reserve!

The trick for annual passes, is that you should first buy a regular ticket from a company that codes as travel, to use your travel credit. Buy the one with the biggest discount — so if dated tickets are $100 off at Undercover Tourist and flexible date tickets are $200 off, get the flex ticket. This ticket will allow you to pre-book your fastpasses.
Then when you arrive at Disney World, go to guest services and ask to upgrade to an annual pass. They will charge you the difference between the ticket price and the current AP price. I assume this second charge does not code as travel (I used discounted gift cards when I did it). You have to do this in person, but you don’t have to do it the first day, unless you want to use your AP discounts immediately.

Undercover tourist is quite a pain to work with. Not only were each ticket $10 more than buying directly from Disney, there are confusing instructions about ticket purchase, E-ticket is non-refundable, but mailed paper tickets are. Need to figure in mailing time if you want to make sure you’re doing your fast pass 30 or 60 days out. They also did NOT release your e-tickets on time, I had to call them 24 hours later only to find out there is some sort of credit card hold up–with our capital one card…..lots of surprises that have never happened with other online ticket purchases
The only positive is that it coded as “other travel” on the capital one venture card. I’d like to know what other travel related purchases also code this way so I don’t have to go through them again. our hotels are via points thus not using the venture card.

That is money (awesome) thanks Julie for posting. I have been struggling with how to get our passes discounted.

Quick question, are you saying I can sign up for the Capital One Venture rewards credit card, purchase Disney Tickets through Undercover Tourist for my upcoming trip with this new card as part of my required $4,000 in purchases by the first 3 months for the one time sign on bonus, and then request the $750 in credit towards the ticket purchase after I reach that dollar amount and get the bonus 75,000 miles? Or do I need to make the $4,000 in purchases first and receive the bonus before purchasing the tickets and requesting the travel refund? Thanks for your help?

Hi Laurie,
You would need to hit the minimum spend requirements first and wait for the welcome bonus to hit before you can use it.
