As I understand it you can extend Kris Flyer miles with Singapore for $12 per 10,000 miles as long as you do it before they expire. Depending on your loyalty status you could extend up to a year.

That’s correct! We’ll update our guide accordingly.

Just spoke with a Cathay Pacific agent for a ticket I’m cancelling and they said: “We refund base on original expiry date. The activity based system in which these mileage will valid for 18months but if you earn new miles or use miles, then it will auto extend for another 18months.” So it looks like you can extend the miles.

I show that Hawaiian miles no longer expire – from their website:
HawaiianMiles Program Updates
Updated: April 12, 2021
Miles no longer expire
Effective immediately, HawaiianMiles are no longer subject to activity-based expiration. So the miles earned through flights and with our HawaiianMiles Partners will remain available for members whenever they are ready to use them.
When did this policy change go into effect?
This policy is effective April 12, 2021.
Do I need to keep a minimum amount of miles in my account?
No, there is no minimum amount of miles required.

I just bought 1K LifeMiles for $33 to extend my 126K miles that expire on 30 August 22. It did not change the expiration date for another year. Should it have updated immediately or does it take a few days? Also, do I have to fly by 30 August 22 or just book something for the future? Thank you.

Hi Phil,
They should have been automatically extended by now. If they have not then I would contact the airline to see what the issue is. For your other question, you would just need to book something by August 30, but don’t need to travel by that date.

I have read some weird story on FlyerTalk about Flying Blue willing to reinstate expired miles if the member (who is no longer a Flying Blue frequent flyer and who has no status) credits one flight. Of course this has been told over the phone and he has no written proof of this « offer » just a promise made over the phone that a note has been put in his file so that when he calls again after his flight, his miles would be reinstated. Too good to be true?
