The Hilton Honors program is one of the biggest hotel loyalty programs in the world. Responsible for over 70 partnerships, it has recently eclipsed 100 million members!

The loyalty program was directly responsible for nearly $400 million of the parent company’s revenue, which just illustrates how big of a cornerstone Hilton Honors is for the Hilton hotel chain.

Its base of loyal members continues to grow, in part due to the program’s reputation as one of the world’s most flexible hotel loyalty programs. Whether you’re looking to combine points for family vacations or use a mix of points and cash, there are tons of ways to maximize the Hilton Honors program.

Let’s take a look at some of the best ways to redeem your Hilton Honors points for maximum value! We’ll be looking at some of the world’s most luxurious hotels as well as some of the top choices for value-minded travelers.

How to Earn Hilton Honors Points

Before we dive into some amazing redemption options, let’s make sure you can earn the Hilton Honors points you need. Many credit cards can help you earn Hilton Honors points, but make sure you choose the one that’s right for you.

American Express Hilton Honors Cards

American Express provides several co-branded Hilton Honors credit cards that earn Hilton Honors points directly.

These cards each come with several bonus categories as well, including U.S. restaurants, U.S. supermarkets, and U.S. gas stations.

Hot Tip: Check out our comparison of the benefits and perks of each Hilton Honors credit card for more details.

American Express Membership Rewards

Hilton is an Amex transfer partner at a 1:2 ratio. Even with the decent transfer rate, this is still not a great use of points unless you are in a pinch; there are many better ways to redeem Membership Rewards for flights.

Recommended American Express Cards (Personal)

Hot Tip: Check to see if you’re eligible for a welcome bonus offer of up to 125k (or 150k) points with the Amex Platinum. The current public offer is 80,000 points. (This targeted offer was independently researched and may not be available to all applicants.)

Hot Tip: Check to see if you’re eligible for a welcome bonus offer of up to 90,000 points with the Amex Gold card. The current public offer is 60,000 points. (This targeted offer was independently researched and may not be available to all applicants.)

If you’re a business owner, see our list of the best Amex business cards.

Hilton Brands

With more than 10 brands, Hilton has hotels around the world. Image Credit: Hilton

Hilton has 19 brands and over 6,100 properties (including timeshares) around the world. It’s no wonder why so many people choose to stay at Hilton properties — you can almost always find one when traveling!

Hotels range from the standard Hampton by Hilton to the mid-tier DoubleTree by Hilton to the luxury Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts. Whatever your needs and wants, Hilton has you covered.

Hilton Honors Award Pricing

Hilton Honors doesn’t follow a classic award chart like World of Hyatt. Instead, Hilton uses variable award pricing, which can result in cheaper or more expensive points rates depending on many factors.

For example, if you’re looking to book hotels during the low season, you might find cheaper points rates. The inverse is also true. This means a reward stay at a Hilton property might cost 30,000 points one night and 70,000 points another night. Hilton is closer to a revenue-based program than any other hotel chain, and this change continues that trend.

You might also notice that if you see higher points costs than expected, you might be looking at a premium room reward, such as a suite. In many cases, this just means that standard room rewards aren’t available (for example, someone already booked the standard room or the hotel doesn’t offer award availability during that time).

26 Amazing Hilton Reward Redemptions

Hilton has some amazing properties around the world. While we’re going to focus on some of the best redemptions based on the experience, keep in mind that there are some nice mid-tier redemption options out there as well.

Let’s take a look at some of the greatest!

1. Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi

Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. Image Credit: Hilton

The Maldives is a dream destination for travelers around the world. However, it’s not the easiest to reach or the cheapest place to stay, so booking a hotel with points can really help.

The Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi debuted in 2019 and is probably the most aspirational redemption from Hilton yet. Normally, the maximum low-level Hilton award costs 95,000 Hilton Honors points, but with this new property, the new top-tier category will cost 120,000 Hilton Honors points. While this is very expensive, the cash prices begin at $1,833 per night!

And it’s easy to see why this property is so expensive. There are 11 award-winning eateries on the resort, a world-famous lifestyle spa, tons of different activities like jet-skiing, and of course, the quintessential True Waldorf Astoria Service for ultra-personalized relaxation.

There are 119 villas on the premises, and you can book higher-tier, gargantuan villas at the standard points rate. This is a huge benefit because you can effectively double the value you get!

Although the entry-level room is the King Beach Villa with Pool, which is already over 2,500+ square feet large with a spacious villa, pool, and direct beach access, you can book upgraded villas (subject to availability) like the King Reef Villa with Pool, which provides you with over 3,000+ square feet of space, a private infinity pool, and an over-water terrace for ultimate comfort.

With the fifth-night free award, you can bring down your effective cost to 96,000 Hilton Honors points per night for a 5-night stay totaling 480,000 points.

2. Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

The Conrad Maldives is an amazing Hilton property for reward stays. Image Credit: Hilton

A night at the Conrad Maldives will require a maximum of 95,000 Hilton Honors points. Not only is this a great redemption for a hotel that generally charges over $1,000 per night, but it is a stellar hotel in the base case. This is an extremely popular property, so you are unlikely to find nights for below 95,000 points.

Depending on when you search, Conrad Maldives may offer you a choice of a 1,600-square feet Beach Villa that has direct beach access, as well as an outdoor bathing pavilion, or a smaller, 925-square feet Overwater Villa that has direct ocean access, a private plunge pool, and a bathroom with an ocean-facing tub.

Once you’re on the island, there are 11 eateries, including the famous Ithaa Undersea Restaurant. This property tends to be more family-friendly than Waldorf Astoria Maldives, but you can revel in luxury at the world-famous spa or explore the locality by going on fishing or snorkeling expeditions.

By staying 5 nights with points, you’ll pay only 380,000 points, which reduces your cost to 76,000 points per night.

3. Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal (Cabos San Lucas, Mexico)

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal. Image Credit: Hilton

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is a swanky, ultra-luxe resort in Cabo San Lucas. It’s situated along the tip of the Baja California Peninsula, which makes for a stunning setting. You’ll drive through the “Dos Mares Tunnel” to begin your stay, which is epic! You’ll also receive a complimentary bottle of Clase Azul Reposado tequila on arrival.

Each of the oversized rooms has custom-made furnishings, Mexican motifs, separate sitting areas with fireplaces, ocean views, and terraces with private plunge pools. They also have oversized flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and minibars.

Although you’ll probably be spending a bulk of your time admiring the natural landscape, there are also 2 upscale restaurants, 2 casual eateries, and a bar to enjoy culinary delights. Plus, check out any of the 4 pools (if your private plunge pool gets boring), the signature Waldorf Astoria spa, the gym, and also the tennis court!

This property joins Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi as the only properties costing 120,000 Hilton Honors points per night at the standard level. This says a lot about the luxe qualities of the resort, though rooms aren’t nearly as expensive when paying with cash, compared to its Maldivian counterpart.

However, you can sometimes find rooms for as little as 85,000 points per night if you’re lucky! The room type you’re looking for with standard rewards is the Pacific View 1 King Bed Room-Plunge Pool.

4. Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills (California)

Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. Image Credit: Stephen Au

Revered as the best hotel in Los Angeles, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is an immaculate property with a killer location. Situated along the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard, this property is a short, 12-minute walk from Rodeo Drive and a 6-mile scenic drive from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The hotel opened in 2017 and is frequented by celebrities and tycoons alike — and it’s easy to see why. The first-class rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, plus an amazingly comfortable bed. But the best part of this property is how technologically-advanced it is. You can text your Waldorf Astoria Concierge for pretty much anything, including room service, tours, and extra toiletries.

The property has posh French cuisine highlighting the work of Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Plus, the rooftop bar/restaurant has panoramic views that are phenomenal. On top of this, there are 2 other cocktail lounges, an ultra-chic spa, a rooftop pool, and a grand 3-story lobby. Don’t forget the complimentary drop-off/pick-up house car service within a radius of 3 miles.

Hotel rooms average around $800 per night (assuming they’re not already sold out), but you can redeem 95,000 Hilton Honors points per night, which is an excellent choice of pure opulence for your stay in Los Angeles. You’ll want to search for the Superior 2 Queen Room with Terrace or the Superior King Room with Terrace although the Superior 2 Queen Room with Terrace is much easier to find availability for.

5. Conrad Hong Kong

Conrad Hong Kong. Image Credit: Hilton

Conrad Hong Kong is located on Hong Kong Island (the southern part of the territory) and has a great view of the harbor. Like the city, this Conrad is not cheap — but it can be booked for a maximum of 80,000 Hilton Honors points. For a great hotel stay that often costs over $300 to $400 per night, this is a great use of Hilton Honors points. If you look carefully, you might even be able to find rooms at 60,000 points per night. The standard reward room types you’ll want to look for are the King Bed Deluxe Room and the Twin Bed Deluxe Room.

Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton is a boutique hotel belonging to Hilton’s Curio Collection brand. Located in Iceland’s capital city Reykjavik, this relatively new upscale hotel gets top-notch reviews.

This hotel is located in a former department store and is a 3-minute walk from Reykjavik Art Museum, a 6-minute walk from Harpa, and only 1.5 miles from the airport.

Each of the cozy rooms has free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea and coffee facilities, as well as ensuite bathrooms. In the property, there’s a restaurant, a bar, a gym, a spa, and a whirlpool.

Lodging in Iceland is notoriously expensive during high season. Also, hotels are generally no-frills, so getting to stay at a full-service hotel in Iceland is a treat.

When you book stays here, you’ll typically find that the most you’ll get charged for a standard room is 80,000 Hilton Honors points per night. However, you’ll often find the same rooms available for as little as 48,000 points per night! The 2 rooms you’ll most likely reserve at the standard level are the King Classic Room and Twin Classic Room.

24. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Image Credit: Hilton

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur is certainly one of Hilton’s best-value hotels. This famous hotel is a 5-star property set in The Intermark shopping complex, which is situated in the KL Golden Triangle District.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur puts other DoubleTree properties to shame because these polished rooms will make you feel like you’re in a Conrad hotel. Parking and an area shuttle are complimentary. Plus, you don’t want to miss out on the amazing DoubleTree cookies, which are plentiful at this property.

There are 4 eateries, but you also have convenient access to tons of shops and off-site eateries thanks to its location within The Intermark. Alternatively, you can check out the outdoor saltwater pool or the 24-hour fitness center.

To stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur, you will need 10,000 to 20,000 Hilton Honors points per night for the lowest-level awards. Typically, you will be booked into the 1 King Bed Guest Room or 2 Twin Beds Guest Room under standard awards.

25. Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre (Iceland)

Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre. Image Credit: Hilton

Canopy by Hilton is one of Hilton’s newer hotel brands, designed to offer a minimalist, boutique experience without compromising on the upscale touches. And Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre offers exactly that.

This chic property is 1 minute’s walking distance from the closest bus stop for maximum convenience. Also, the nature-themed rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and Nespresso machines!

The property offers a sophisticated restaurant offering local fare, an industrial-themed cafe, a bar/bistro, a 24-hour gym, free rental bikes, and a knowledgeable concierge.

This millennial-catered hotel can be booked for as little as 41,000 Hilton Honors points per night. However, you’ll notice that the cheapest room rates are either the Queen Room or the Twin Room. You may want to consider paying slightly more (around 42,000 instead of 41,000 points per night) to stay in the King Room for maximum comfort.

The most a room will generally cost for a standard room is 80,000 Hilton Honors points per night, though you’ll rarely see this.

26. Hoodoo Moab, Curio Collection by Hilton (Utah)

Hoodoo Moab, Curio Collection by Hilton. Image Credit: Hilton

Moab is home to Utah’s red rock wonders, featuring some of the most beautiful national parks in the U.S. If you’re looking for a road trip or nature getaway in the U.S., look no further.

Hoodoo Moab, Curio Collection by Hilton is the only full-service points hotel in the area, which means that you’ll definitely want to stay here if you’re looking for a more pampered experience in Moab.

It’s still possible to get excellent value from award stays here, despite the lack of full-service properties competing for market share. Hoodoo Moab is 10-minutes from Arches National Park, a block from Main Street, and only 30 miles from Canyonlands National Park.

Each of the refined rooms offers free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffee and tea facilities, microwaves, and mini-fridges. Parking is complimentary here, and you can check out the on-site steakhouse and bar, outdoor pool, fitness center, business center, and kids play area. If you’re looking for some more relaxation after a long day of sightseeing, you’ll definitely want to check out the spa.

Typical points stays cost 70,000 points per night, but those who are looking for more impromptu vacations will be rewarded with cheaper rates of around 61,000 points per night. The rooms you’ll be booked into for standard rates are most likely the 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds rooms. Cash rates can range from $250-$400 per night!

Additional Hilton Honors Point Redemption Options

Points & Money Rewards

Hilton Honors allows you to book stays with both points and cash, which it calls Points & Money rewards. When booking a reward stay, you can use a slider to adjust how much cash vs. how many points you want to spend.

Premium Room Rewards

While more expensive than rewards stays in standard rooms, you can book Premium Room Rewards with your Hilton Honors points if you desire.

Room Upgrade Rewards

If you have booked a paid stay at a Hilton property, you can use your Hilton Honors points to upgrade your room.

Points Pooling With Friends and Family

One aspect of the Hilton Honors program is the ability to pool your points with up to 10 friends and family. By combining Hilton Honors points, you can take smaller points balances and turn them into enough for a reward stay.

Transfer to Partners

You can transfer your Hilton points to numerous airline partners and Amtrak, but the redemption value is generally poor.

Final Thoughts

There’s tons of value to be had when redeeming Hilton Honors points for hotel stays. Although Hilton has received a fair amount of criticism in the past for switching to variable award pricing, you can get exceptional value almost anywhere you go.

And although the value you receive increases when you book stays at more luxurious properties, there are still many examples of upscale hotels that are value-packed and don’t cost 100,000+ points per night.

We didn’t focus on the economy- or mid-tier hotel options like Hampton by Hilton or Home2 Suites here, but you can often find some great value in these hotel properties, too.

If you really want to achieve the high-end and luxury Hilton property redemptions, brands like Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, LXR Hotels & Resorts, and Hilton Hotels & Resorts provide some amazing redemption options!

Conrad Bora Bora Nui simply cannot use only 80000 points for a night. It shows 290,000 points per night on Oct 1 to Oct 5, 2018. Cash price is only $691 in advance purchase. This is absurd number of points.

The number of points required varies based on the time of year that you’re looking to stay there.

After redemption of room via points, will we still be entitled to complimentary room upgrades by virtue of membership status?

Stephen Au

October 24, 2018

Hey DK,

You are not entitled to any upgrades because it is subject to availability. You can request it, but nothing is guaranteed. Hope this helps!

Can I redeem points to PayPal cash ??

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, redeeming Hilton Honors points to PayPal cash is not an option.

Cheapest you can currently book Conrad Maldives is 89,000 points. Every instance where the author says ‘maximum’ they really mean minimum.

Stephen Au

July 22, 2019

Joe,

When do you see availability at the Conrad Maldives for 89,000 points?

Josh

March 25, 2020

Stephen – i have to agree with Joe’s comment. There are several instances in this article where the ‘maximum’ is the minimum. Otherwise, it’s a great article.

Sam

The maximum is for a standard room reward booking and not for any other type, so Stephen is correct. If you can find a standard room it should not be more than 89,000 points per night.

Stephen Au

Hi Sam,

Thanks for chipping in.

To be clear, the price you will see for the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is 95,000 points per night in a standard room. This includes both the Beach Villa and the Water Villa (YMMV with the Water Villa depending on dates). The cheapest standard room price you will see for the Conrad Bora Bora is 89,000 points per night in a standard room (Garden Villa). These are 2 totally different properties. Hopefully that helps!

Can I use my points at Hilton Hotel restaurants?

Jarrod West

May 22, 2020

Hi Adel,

Unfortunately, Hilton does not allow you to redeem your points at Hilton Hotel restaurants. However, the Hilton Honors program does offer experience packages where you can redeem your points for meals at world-class restaurants, concerts, sporting events, etc.

Can you redeem points for a statement credit? If so, what would the 125,000 bonus miles get you for a credit?

Jarrod West

June 23, 2020

Hi Dave,

No, you are not able to redeem your Hilton points as a statement credit. You can redeem them for Amazon purchases, but you’ll only receive about 0.2 cents in value per point. We value Hilton points at 0.4 cents each, so we don’t recommend redeeming points for anything that will yield you less value than that.

I was trying to book a vacation at the Hilton Grand Wailea on Maui using my American Express Hilton Points. There are no rooms for 95,000 points. The rooms all cost over 300,000 points a night. I went from being able to book my entire vacation with reward points to only one room. This sudden hike in points required is making me think I need a different reward credit card. Can you suggest a similar card where we can stay in nice but less expensive hotels frequently and build up rewards for a luxury stay every few years? We like the Hilton Homewood suites and Hampton Inn- but are very discouraged with the extreme point hike for the hotel we were planning on staying at.

Stephen Au

July 21, 2020

Hi Jennifer!

Hilton doesn’t actually charge more points per night in the way you’re thinking. The 95,000 points per night price is for “standard” rooms, while the rooms you’re seeing for 300,000+ points per night are called “premium room rewards”. When this happens, it’s not that it’s more expensive — it’s actually that the standard rooms are simply unavailable. So the “next level” rooms are 300,000 points per night.

Sometimes, this is because people have already booked all the available standard rooms using points. In a given hotel, there are usually only around 1-5 rooms available using points.

If you’re interested in the nicest, least expensive, yet most luxurious properties, you should consider World of Hyatt, which is Hyatt’s loyalty program. You can easily earn points by transferring from Chase Ultimate Rewards or earning points directly from the Hyatt credit card.

Also, if you feel like you’d get value from a service that will optimize your award travel and offer ultra-personalized points wealth management, please feel free to contact me directly at stephen@upgradedpoints.com to inquire about a monthly subscription service.

When booking Marriott reward rooms, I know I don’t need to have all the points in my account. What is Hilton’s policy on this?

Jarrod West

September 30, 2020

Hi S.,

Hilton requires you to already have the necessary points in your account prior to booking.

What is the best way to ask for a room upgrade if I hold Hilton Honors Diamond Status?

Thank you.

Stephen Au

January 27, 2021

Hey Sam,

You can send the hotel reservations desk an email or give them a call asking to be prioritized for an upgrade. They’ll put a comment in your reservation, which might hold more weight on your check-in date. Sadly, this is not guaranteed because suite upgrades as a Diamond member are totally at the discretion of the individual property.

February 04, 2021

Sam… Ok, I looked at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi and 800.000 points is the cheapest you can get, not the 95.000 points as mentioned in this article. Did I miss something? This articles was updated on Jan 5th of 2021, prices or number of points cannot have increased that much over the course of a couple weeks…

Stephen Au

February 05, 2021

Hi Joke,

The Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi costs 120,000 points for standard room rewards. The hotel limits the number of standard room rewards, so if you see a price like 800,000, it means that other people have already booked those rooms at the standard room reward price. Therefore, what you’re seeing is the premium room reward price.

I hope this helps!

Harper

March 31, 2021

I just looked through every single month for the next year and the cheapest room is 701,000 points per night – does this mean that the hotel has done away with standard room rewards?

Stephen Au

March 31, 2021

Hi Harper,

No, it doesn’t. It means that all the rooms at these rates and throughout the calendar have been booked! It can also mean that inventory is restricted — but almost all properties must allow standard room rewards.

Kevin

May 01, 2021

Hi!

The standard room at the Conrad Mangali is a Beach Villa, which houses 4 people. Would a single redemption for 95k points cover all 4 people? How would this work in regards to Breakfast, if all people have Hilton Diamond/Gold?

Stephen Au

May 02, 2021

Hi Kevin,

Technically, it’s possible to book 4 guests in a Beach Villa at the standard redemption level, but with 1 king bed and no 2 queen bed options, you’d need to use a rollaway bed. Additionally, the breakfast is complimentary for the Diamond/Gold member and 1 other guest, so it wouldn’t cover everyone.

I am currently looking at the Waldorf Astoria in the Maldives and the rates are at a ridiculous 1,000,000 per night. What happened there?

Jarrod West

August 27, 2021

Hi Bob,

It is probably the case that standard rooms are not available for the dates you are looking at, and Hilton is showing you the award rates for premium suites at the hotel. I would try switching your dates and booking as far out as possible as the award availability at that hotel can be hard to come by.
