The Chase Ultimate Rewards program is one of the most flexible and easy to use rewards programs out there. These points can be transferred to several hotel and airline loyalty programs, used directly for airline tickets, or redeemed for cash-back.
If you have a credit card that earns Ultimate Rewards, you can easily earn even more through the Chase online shopping portal. Here’s what you need to know about Shop Through Chase.
How to Log in and the Basics of Using the Program
To access the Ultimate Rewards mall, you will need to log in to your Chase account. This does require that you have a Chase credit card. If you don’t have one yet, you will not be able to utilize the online portal.
If you have multiple Chase credit cards, you will need to select one of them to access the Chase shopping portal during the login process. This is important because different cards can give you different payout rates to various stores at any given time.
There are 2 ways to navigate to Shop Through Chase:
Log in at Chase.com, then click on the right arrow under “Rewards” next to your Ultimate Rewards balance. This takes you to the Rewards Home. Scroll down until you see Shop Through Chase and click to proceed.
After you have logged in to the Chase Ultimate Rewards mall and chosen the card through which you’d like to access the portal, you can search for the store you want and see how many additional points you can earn.
Let’s assume you have a purchase at Sears coming up. At the time of writing, you would have been able to earn 1 extra Ultimate Rewards point per dollar spent on purchases at sears.com.
To earn the bonus rewards, you will need to click on the retailer and select the button that shows up saying “Shop This Offer.” You’ll then be redirected to sears.com where you can complete a purchase and earn your points!
Hot Tip: To ensure that you receive rewards for your transaction, only use coupon codes from the Shop Through Chase mall and do not click out to another site once you’ve clicked from Shop Through Chase and started your purchase (this can interfere with tracking cookies).
How Ultimate Rewards Points Are Credited
If you’ve finalized an online purchase that was started through Shop Through Chase, Chase alerts the store. The store then alerts Chase if the purchase was eligible for Ultimate Rewards points and Chase in turn adds the points to your account.
The points should appear on your Shop Through Chase “My Shopping Details” page within 3 to 5 days of your purchase (though points may take up to 45 days to post to your page, depending on the retailer). The points should post to your Rewards Activity account within up to 2 billing cycles (60 days).
Chase can only research transactions made with the past 180 days (6 months), so if you have an issue with points posting, contact Chase to investigate any issues.
Special Shopping Offers
Many of the online shopping portals will have occasional special shopping offers where even more bonus miles will be awarded for spending different amounts of money. Unfortunately, Shop Through Chase has not offered any of these in the past.
However, it does tend to rotate the retailers in the portal and change the rewards available at each one, so check back frequently to see if a new store or a new earning rate is available!
Hot Tip: Want to double up on your rewards? Check your Chase Offers to see what extra discounts you are eligible for! These will stack with any extra rewards you earn through Shop Through Chase.
Example Retailers
The number of Ultimate Rewards you can earn and the participating retailers at Shop Through Chase change from time to time. At the time of writing, these were some of the higher-earning rates available through the portal when clicking through with a Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card.
AT&T Wireless: 3,000 points
Flowers by Florists.com: 15 points per $1
Magazines.com: 10 points per $1
YSL Beauty: 7 points per $1
Gucci: 5 points per $1
Saucony: 4 points per $1
Hot Tip: If you have different cards that earn Ultimate Rewards, check the rate at your desired store using each card since the available rewards can vary. You can easily check all of the rates at any store using CashBack Monitor.
Using Credit Cards to Earn Extra Points
You’ll be racking up bonuses from shopping through the portal, but you should also try to put your purchase on a credit card that will be rewarding on its own.
For cards that earn other currencies, you should consider whether the purchase you are going to make falls into a bonus category to maximize your rewards.
Hot Tip: If something goes wrong with your points after making a purchase, you may have trouble claiming them if you did not use a Chase card to pay.
While you don’t have to pay with a Chase card to earn the rewards, if something goes wrong with your order you’ll have more luck claiming your bonus points if you did pay with a Chase card.
Don’t forget to click through and earn some bonus points for your next online purchase! The more Ultimate Rewards points you have, the closer you’ll be to redeeming them for an awesome vacation.

Frequently Asked Questions
The points earned are the bank’s transferable points currency: Chase Ultimate Rewards points. These can be transferred to a number of airline and hotel partners, including United and Hyatt, or used for great travel rewards.
Unfortunately, points transferred will not count toward status. You can use those points to redeem for free flights and nights at hotels.
The value of Ultimate Rewards depends on how you use them. A low-value redemption, like redeeming for cash, will give you 1 cent per point. Redeeming for a first class ticket could easily give you a value upwards of 7 cents per point.
The Chase Ultimate Rewards program has great airline and hotel travel partners that include some of the best loyalty programs available for reward travel! See here for the most updated list of Chase transfer partners.
As long as you keep a credit card open that earns Ultimate Rewards, your points won’t expire. If you are going to cancel all of your credit cards with Chase, you should first transfer your points to another program.
There is no limit to the amount of rewards you can earn through Shop Through Chase.
To access Shop Through Chase you just need to log in to your account and click through to a retailer’s website. You can continue to shop as normal and any purchases will be tracked using cookies for your Ultimate Rewards to be awarded to your account.
Yes, Chase has a shopping Portal called Shop Through Chase. Just log in to your Ultimate Rewards account and select “Shop through Chase.” You’ll then be able to take advantage of bonus points by shopping online with participating retailers.

Thanks for the article! I’ve been using Shop Through Chase for a few years and have always gotten the bonus points. However, starting this year 2019, none of my 5 purchases from Shop Through Chase received points. I contacted Chase about this and they were of no help since I didn’t charge the purchases on a Chase card. This is very disappointing and I felt a bit cheated by Chase as I could have made the purchases through another portal to earn points.

Maybe a silly question, but I don’t understand the partners on the Shop through Chase portal that offer 1 point/dollar because that’s already the rate at which you earn points with Chase Sapphire purchases. Does this mean one additional point per dollar spent in addition to the 1 pt/dollar you would already earn?
Can I use my existing reward points to pay for purchases made through the Chase shopping portal? If so, will I get points for the purchase even if I pay using rewards?
Unfortunately, you cannot use your Ultimate Rewards points to pay for purchases through the Chase shopping portal. You can however use them as a payment method with Amazon and Apple when you like your Ultimate Rewards earning card as a payment method.

Just to confirm — You CAN use a non-Chase card in the Shop Through Chase portal and still receive points – Is that correct? For example, my Chase card would only give me 1% back on the purchase (not including the STC bonus). However, I have another card that gives 2% on everything. Could I use the 2% non-Chase card and still receive my STC portal points?
Yes, that is correct that you can use whatever credit card you’d like with Shop Through Chase and still receive points.

The Q4 freedom 5% category is Paypal, right? So if I use the shopping portal which gives 7% for Gucci, and if I use PayPal to pay, will I get 12%? Or is it still only 7%?
If you use PayPal to pay, and have your Freedom card linked as the payment method on PayPal, then you should receive 12% back for the purchase. Thanks for reading!

I have a question, once I click on a vendor that offers extra points through the chase shopping portal, do I also have to pay with one of my chase cards in order to get those extra ultimate rewards? Or do I still get the ultimate rewards in the shopping portal offer even if I pay, let’s say, with my venture capital one visa (which offers 2x on every purchase, which makes it the best option for, say, clothing or department stores)? Thanks

You should be able to use whatever card you’d like and still be rewarded with the Ultimate Rewards points for shopping through the portal.
