The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is one of the newest premium credit cards available. And with so many travel benefits and outstanding rewards structures, the appeal has never been greater.

In fact, this credit card is the only credit card that allows you unlimited access to Capital One Lounges, among other unique travel benefits.

So if you travel to airports with any degree of regularity, you’ll want to pay close attention to this guide!

Card Snapshot

The Capital One Venture X card offers numerous benefits to the savvy cardholder — and even though it comes with a hefty annual fee, the value you’d get every year from this card honestly makes the annual fee look like a rounding error.

Every year, you will get an up to $300 Capital One Travel credit and an anniversary bonus of 10,000 miles (which we value at $180). These 2 benefits alone will make you come out ahead in light of the annual fee.

Capital One Venture X Card Lounge Benefit Details

The Capital One Venture X card confers access to the Capital One Partner Lounge Network, featuring Capital One Lounges, Priority Pass lounges, and Plaza Premium Lounges.

Capital One Lounges

The Capital One Lounge is a new breed of airport lounge that made a huge splash when first unveiled.

The inaugural location in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) boasts a large selection of fresh hot and cold food, as well as a craft cocktail bar.

There’s also a grab-and-go section with cold-pressed juice, flavored sparkling water, sandwiches, and snacks that you can take with you on your flight!

Perhaps even more impressive is the selection of artisanal coffee by La Colombe and Cultivar, available even on tap as a cold brew beverage or latte.

The lounge has a barista bar for fresh espresso drinks, Dilmah tea is on offer, and various soft drinks are on tap.

The rest of the lounge consists of shower suites, an exercise room, relaxation rooms, a nursing room, a prayer room, and restrooms.

Indeed, the Capital One Lounges are making the Centurion Lounges look like child’s play, and the only way to get unlimited access is with the Capital One Venture X card.

At the moment, there are 2 additional openings planned for 2023 at Denver (DEN) and Washington, D.C. (IAD).

Priority Pass Lounges (“Select” Membership)

The existing Capital One Lounge network is about as small as it gets — in recognition of this, the Capital One Venture X card also offers a complimentary Priority Pass Select membership.

This allows you to also bring 2 guests free of charge (extra guests are charged $27 per person per visit).

Due to activation delays, you may have to wait up to 2 weeks after your Capital One Venture X card is approved to activate your Priority Pass Select membership, so keep that in mind.

After activation, you’ll receive your Priority Pass Select membership card in the mail, and you can also create a digital membership card so you don’t need to present the physical card every time you access a Priority Pass location.

Priority Pass gets you access to 1,300 airport lounges across nearly 150 countries around the world.

Depending on which lounge you access, you can get free food, drinks, Wi-Fi, and sometimes even shower suites.

Note that the Capital One Venture X card no longer has access to Priority Pass non-lounge experiences like restaurants, spas, etc. as of January 1, 2023.

Plaza Premium Lounges

One of the newest additions to the Capital One Venture X card’s benefits is the ability to enjoy complimentary access to more than 110 Plaza Premium Lounges around the world.

Located in gateway airports around the world, such as London-Heathrow (LHR), Singapore (SIN), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), and Hong Kong (HKG), this is a huge perk of holding the Capital One Venture X card.

Although the amenities and facilities vary from lounge to lounge, you can generally expect a hot food buffet, showers, cocktails, and an otherwise comfortable place to relax before your flight!

You will also be allowed 2 complimentary guests per visit.

The Value of Complimentary Lounge Access

Having airport lounge access is pricey — for example, it’s not unusual to see airport lounge access memberships costing upwards of $600 per year!

That means just one of these memberships will probably cost more than your credit card’s annual fee.

Lounge Network Single 1-Year Membership CostCost To Add a Spouse, Partner, or Guest to MembershipSingle Day Pass for 1 Person
Priority Pass Select$469N/A – Annual membership covers cardholder only, additional guest is $35 per visit$35 per visit for cardholder with basic $99 annual standard membership

For travelers, it makes a ton of sense to get the right credit card that comes with complimentary lounge access.

Let’s take a look at how the Capital One Venture X card offers spectacular value for different types of travelers.

Value for Family Lounge Access

If you’re considering adding the Capital One Venture X card to your wallet, you should know that this card offers some of the most generous lounge access privileges for your whole family.

At Capital One Lounges, you and 2 additional guests are entitled to get unlimited visits every year as long as you have a same-day boarding pass — additional guests are $45 each.

The same is true at Priority Pass, except for the fact that additional guests are all included.

Plaza Premium Lounges confer complimentary access to 2 guests, and additional guest passes may be purchased for an additional standard charge, where available.

Value for Authorized Users

One of the most exceptional features of the Capital One Venture X card is that you can add up to 4 authorized users for free.

But it gets better — each authorized user can get their own Priority Pass Select membership and their own guesting privileges at Capital One Lounges and Plaza Premium Lounges.

If you max out this benefit, you and 4 authorized users can take up to 10 total guests into Capital One Lounges, Priority Pass lounges, and Plaza Premium Lounges for no additional cost!

This is incredible, to say the least!

Value for the Business Traveler

One of the biggest value propositions for the Capital One Venture X card is for business owners who may frequently be on the road.

If you travel for business, having lounge access could mean fast Wi-Fi, being able to enjoy hearty meals on to go, freshening up with a shower before an important meeting, and even networking in the lounge!

And if your business takes you to many different places, the Priority Pass Select membership has you covered with its 1,300+ locations around the world. The Plaza Premium Lounge network gives access to 110+ locations worldwide.

Business travelers can also leverage complimentary Hertz President’s Circle status, and the ability to earn up to 10x miles on purchases.

Value for the Leisure Traveler

As a leisure traveler, there’s nothing worse than having to wait for your flight in a crowded airport.

Your vacation is supposed to be stress-free, and one of the ways to reduce the stress is by having lounge access while traveling.

By making use of your airport lounge access twice per year for yourself and your significant other, you can extract even more value from your credit card.

Lounge access isn’t just reserved for business travelers!

Final Thoughts

The Capital One Venture X card is one of the most popular new credit cards. Between the excellent rewards and travel perks, it’s easy to see why travelers love it.

This card offers complimentary access to Capital One Lounges, a complimentary Priority Pass Select membership, and complimentary access to Plaza Premium Lounges. Both of these include 2 free guests — but what makes the Capital One Venture X card particularly special is that you can add up to 4 authorized users for free.

Each of those authorized users will have their own Priority Pass Select membership and access privileges to Capital One Lounges and Plaza Premium Lounges, making it possible to get lounge access for up to 15 travelers with just 1 annual fee!

Enrollment required through Capital One website or mobile app. Upon enrollment, eligible cardholders will remain at upgraded status level through December 31, 2024.  Please note, enrolling through the normal Hertz Gold Plus Rewards enrollment process (e.g. at Hertz.com) will not automatically detect a cardholder as being eligible for the program and cardholders will not be automatically upgraded to the applicable status tier.  Additional terms apply.

Thank you for the article! So, does that mean you and 2 guests each get the restaurant credit as well in airports?

Jarrod West

Hi Dora,

You only receive 1 additional $28 credit at restaurants – which would cover $56 worth of items.

Might you know if the Capital One Venture card includes access to the new Plaza Premiim lounge at MCO airport in Orlando? Thanks.

Keri Stooksbury

January 08, 2023

Hi Harold! It is not yet included on Plaza Premium’s list, but that list may not be fully updated with the terminal’s recent opening. You can also try emailing mcotc@plaza-network.com or calling 407-825-6335 to ask. Please let us know if you’re able to access it with your Venture card!

Over the last few months I had noticed more and more airport lounges being removed for venture x holders. The one I personally experienced is HYD on March 2nd. The lounge was accessible just one week before and is accessible with priority pass from CSR. I wish there was some notice of removal. I did not find out until I arrived at the counter in the airport.

To access Capital One Lounges and Premium Plaza Lounges, do we need a separate membership card like Priority Pass? Or do we just whip out our Capital One credit card to gain entrance?

April 17, 2023

Hi Cindy – just your eligible Capital One card should work! Thanks for reading!
