1. Park Hyatt Chennai (India)

The rare Category 1 Park Hyatt in Chennai, India. Image Credit: Hyatt

Though Park Hyatt is a luxury brand, you can stay at the Park Hyatt Chennai from only 3,500 World of Hyatt points per night. Don’t let this Category 1 property fool you — it has a reputation for great service and ranks highly on Tripadvisor.

While Chennai (and all cities in India for that matter) are very spread out, the Park Hyatt Chennai is an ideal location for exploring nearby attractions. It’s the cheapest Park Hyatt in the Hyatt system, so you certainly won’t find a better value when it comes to spending points and receiving luxury.

2. Hyatt Regency Kathmandu (Nepal)

If you fancy a trip up Mount Everest, you’ll first want to stop at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu for some rest and relaxation. Image Credit: Hyatt

One of the best hotels in Nepal, the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu is another great Category 1 property, with rooms starting at 3,500 points. You can even book a club room for only 7,000 points per night, which will give you club lounge access and free continental breakfast.

If you like to stay fit when traveling, you’ll love that the Grand Hyatt doesn’t just have a fitness center, but a full gym that even offers personal training.

As a Category 4 hotel, redemptions start at 12,000 points per night. The Grand Club at this hotel tends to get rave reviews — it’s well-stocked and bookable with points. The hotel is walkable to most major museums and transportation within the inner loop of the city, but be warned that it does sell out fast as it’s popular among tourists who visit.

9. Thompson Chicago (Illinois)

If you’re up for a bit of shopping, nearly every high-end store you can think of is located right around the corner from the hotel. Image Credit: Hyatt

This Chicago property is the only Category 1-4 Thompson Hotel. Set directly across the street from the famed Gibson’s Bar and Steakhouse, as well as in the heart of the Gold Coast neighborhood, the Thompson is highly accessible for most of the things you want to do in Chicago.

This Category 4 hotel, available from just 12,000 points per night, is fantastic about upgrades for Hyatt elite members, so be sure to take advantage if you’re eligible. The famed Michigan Avenue is a short 5-minute walk away, but the hotel is just off from the hustle and bustle, creating a perfect Chicago escape.

Hot Tip: Category 4 World of Hyatt properties are great ways to get the most out of your annual free night certificate that comes with your World of Hyatt card.

10. Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort (Costa Rica)

The Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort is located along the lush Costa Rican coast. Image Credit: Hyatt

About 30 minutes from Liberia Airport (LIR) you will find the gorgeous Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort. If you are looking to disconnect from the grind of day-to-day life, you will love this secluded property. As a Category 5 hotel, rooms are available from 17,000 points a night.

11. Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires (Argentina)

Experience amazing service during your stay at the luxurious Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires. Image Credit: Hyatt

From 21,000 World of Hyatt points per night, you can book an award stay at this property … and you won’t be disappointed.

One cool benefit of the suites at this property is that they come with a private butler, creating the perfect balance between luxury and convenience.

12. Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas (UAE)

Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas is one of the nicest hotels in Abu Dhabi, though can get quite hot during the summer. Image Credit: Hyatt

If you find yourself in the UAE, check out the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas. A beautiful Hyatt Category 6 property with great service, this is an awesome option if you’re looking to get away from the major attractions for a couple of days, and rooms start at just 21,000 points per night.

For extra space, or if you’re traveling with friends, consider a villa — these spacious oceanfront rooms feature tons of living space and the ability to connect to additional guestrooms.

13. Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa

One of the most famous Park Hyatts in the world is in the Maldives. Image Credit: Hyatt

The Maldives has long been high on the bucket lists of many miles and points enthusiasts. At the Park Hyatt Maldives, you will experience great service while relaxing away from everything… and we mean everything.

It’s a bit of an effort to get there, but once in your villa or overwater bungalow, you can just relax. Award stays at this Category 7 property will cost you 25,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

Be warned that food on-site is very expensive, so while you may be saving by redeeming points, you should anticipate spending a fair amount each day at one of the hotel’s several dining options.

14. Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort (Hawaii)

It’s quite rare to see award availability at the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, but be sure to check often to see if your dates become available! Image Credit: Hyatt

The Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort can be tough to book because of minimum-stay requirements, but it is a beautiful property. If you plan on taking a relaxing vacation to Hawaii, this could be just the place for you!

If you intend on staying at this Category 8 hotel, book early so you can book your room from 35,000 points per night — last-minute stays are rarely available. Most rooms feature oceanfront views, and you’ll definitely want to check out the weekly luau ceremonies that take place right on the lawn along the beach.

15. Park Hyatt Sydney (Australia)

Without a doubt, the Park Hyatt Sydney is one of Hyatt’s most famous properties thanks to its view of the Sydney Opera House. The service is second to none, the views are phenomenal, and the food is stellar. Sydney is an amazing city, and the Park Hyatt takes it to another level.

If you want a view of the Sydney Opera House, book early — these rooms are especially premium, and upgrades are hard to come by. The Opera Deluxe room is where you want to stay for stunning views.

All rooms start at 35,000 points (off-peak) per night at this Category 8 hotel and overlook either the city, Opera House, or Harbour Bridge, so no matter where you stay, you’re in for a treat.

16. Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme (France)

Located along the famous Rue de la Paix, the Park Hyatt Paris is located near tons of shopping, restaurants and major attractions. Image Credit: Hyatt

From the moment you set foot in the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, you’ll see why this is a luxury hotel. The hotel receives great reviews for its breakfast (though pricey), and it even has a Michelin-starred restaurant. Top it off with a great location in Paris, and it’s no surprise that people love staying here.

Rooms start at 35,000 points per night at this Category 8 hotel, but not all rooms feature balconies — if you’re lucky enough to have one, it’s a fantastic location to people-watch onto the street below or take your breakfast in the morning. The hotel is within walking distance of the Louvre and the famed Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

Additionally, be on the lookout for 50% off on award stays at Miraval Arizona. You need to have all the points to book the reservation, but you will receive half back. This is mostly done during the hot summer months, as demand is relatively low in Arizona due to the scorching hot weather.

In other words, if you are planning a 3-night stay at Miraval Arizona during a 50% off special, you will need 120,000 World of Hyatt points, and you’ll get back 60,000 points. Think of it as a 50% rebate.

20. Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Small Luxury Hotels of the World has partnered with Hyatt to offer more properties and benefits to World of Hyatt members. Image Credit: Le Grand Bellevue

Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World have launched a partnership that allows you to redeem World of Hyatt points for stays at participating properties.

Currently, over 240 of the 500+ SLH properties are participating, and more will progressively join the partnership with World of Hyatt.

SLH night awards are priced on the regular World of Hyatt award chart, and most are represented in the Category 8 tier of 35,000 points per night. Some are not as expensive: the cheapest participating property is in Estonia and costs 15,000 points per night.

On award bookings at participating SLH properties, all World of Hyatt members, regardless of elite status, get the following benefits:

  • Early check-in at 12 p.m. (based on availability at check-in)
  • 1 category room upgrade (based on availability at check-in)
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Complimentary continental breakfast
  • Late checkout at 2 p.m. (based on availability at check-in)

21. Use Points for Suite Nights

Hyatt also allows you to guarantee yourself an upgrade at booking by using an increased amount of points to book either a Regency/Grand Club Room, Standard Suite, or even a Premium Suite!

Be aware that a Premium Suite will always cost you double the standard rate. The extra expense in points might not initially seem worth it, especially if you’re already a Hyatt Globalist member, but if you’re celebrating a special occasion and want to be certain you’ll have a suite, it can definitely be worthwhile.

Additionally, it is worth noting that even Hyatt Globalist upgrades only include up to Standard Suites, not Premium Suites. So if you really want to step your vacation up a notch, and you have the points to spare, this is a great way to do so.

22. Points + Cash Bookings

You can also book standard rooms with points and cash. Unlike award stays, these bookings will help you earn status credits. This can be a useful tool if you need a few more nights to reach the next level of status. It can also be helpful if you want to offset some of the cost and save some points for another booking.

23. Pay My Way

Hyatt now allows you to combine various payments, like cash, points, Points + Cash, and award certificates, all on 1 reservation. Simply log in to your World of Hyatt account and click Use Pay My Way when booking to see your available options.

24. Use Points To Upgrade a Paid Stay

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong Grand Club Lounge. Image Credit: Hyatt

If you’ve booked a paid stay, you can use 3,000 World of Hyatt points to upgrade to a club room at Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency properties. These rooms are nicer, and you’ll receive access to the club lounge.

If you’d like more space, you can upgrade a paid stay to a suite for 6,000 to 9,000 World of Hyatt points. These rooms also allow you to access club lounges.

Always a fan of flying, it was only natural that Spencer was drawn to finding a way to improve the travel experience.

Like many, he started this journey searching for cheap flights to take him around the world. This was fun for a while, but Spencer was intrigued by the idea of flying in business and first class!

Throwing himself into what became an extensive research project, Spencer spent 3-4 hours per night learning everything he could about frequent flyer miles over the course of several months (he thinks this is normal). He runs Straight to the Points, an award-seat alert platform.

Hi Annette,

Thank you for this. We’ve updated our list of JdV properties to reflect this.

I’m excited for a trip to Amsterdam. The Regency is switching to a category 4 and will be 15,000 points/night so I can use my annual free award night. The cash rate is $350/night pre tax for standard room. I don’t have any suite upgrades left but am crossing my fingers for some good Globalist treatment. I’m new to points but this seems like a good value for a 5-night stay.
