Amazon Prime Visa Card — Is It Worth It?
The Amazon Prime Visa card is a perfect option for anyone who frequently shops with Amazon and its subsidiary Whole Foods and wants to earn cash-back rewards on those purchases.
Holding the card effectively gives you a 5% discount on everything you buy at Amazon, plus 10% back or more on a rotating selection of items. So those that do quite a bit of shopping with the online shopping can add up to some serious savings!

Purchase Protection
Any purchases made with your card within the first 120 days from the purchase date are covered against accidental damage or theft up to $500 per claim and $50,000 per year.
To qualify, at least part of your purchase needs to be made with your card, and you can receive a replacement, repair, or reimbursement for your item.
Extended Warranty Protection
This protection increases the U.S. manufacturer’s warranty of an item by 1 year if the original warranty is less than 3 years. At least part of the item needs to have been purchased with your Amazon Prime Visa card.
Baggage Delay and Lost Luggage Insurance
If your travel carrier delays your bag by more than 6 hours, you will be covered up to $100 per day, for up to 3 days, for emergency supplies like toiletries or clothing purchases.
On the other hand, if the carrier loses your bag or damages it during transit, you’re covered up to $3,000 per person per trip.
Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
In the U.S., rental car coverage is secondary when you decline the rental company’s collision insurance and pay for your rental car with the Amazon Prime Visa card.
How To Earn and Redeem Amazon Reward Points
The best way to earn more rewards points is by using your card for all of your purchases, as you’ll earn 5% on Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and on Chase Travel purchases with an eligible Prime membership, plus 10% back or more on a rotating selection of items and categories on Amazon.com. You’ll also earn 2% back at gas stations, restaurants, local transit and commuting (including rideshare) and 1% on all other eligible purchases.
When you earn cash-back with the Amazon Prime Visa card, the rewards come as points worth 1 cent each. You can then redeem all of the rewards you earn towards purchases with Amazon right when you checkout. No minimum redemption is required, so you’ll always be able to put any points earned toward any new purchase. Or you can opt for cash-back and apply it to your credit card bill.

Chase Freedom Flex℠
The Freedom Flex card might be a great option if you’re looking for a card with flexible rewards, no annual fee, and a strong earning structure. The card earns 5% back on rotating bonus categories like gas and groceries, 5% back on travel purchased through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal, and 3% back on dining and drugstore purchases. So while it is not as rewarding for Amazon purchases, it makes for a great everyday card.
