In your post, “You can also earn Globalist through your Hyatt credit card spend.” however,
Chase stated in World of Hyatt status link through the Hyatt credit card link, https://www.chase.com/personal/credit-cards/hyatt/earn/earn-maintain
that,
“Spending in excess of $50,000 USD in a calendar year will not earn any additional benefit or elite status upgrade”
Which is the most updated info?

Hi SH,
The Hyatt Credit Card is the older version of the card that is no longer available to new applicants. The newer World of Hyatt card allows you to spend your way to elite status by giving you two elite night credits for every $5,000 spent on the card.

Thanks for your reply and the clarification.
I thought I was on the World of Hyatt Credit Card page on Chase website.

My explorist level expires February 2022. If I reach the 30 qualifying nights for globalist before the 2021 year-end, does Globalist kick in right away or after Explorist expires in February 2022?

Hi Joe,
Your Globalist status will kick in as soon as you qualify for it. Thanks for reading!

I was approved for the Hyatt visa card on 10/02/2021. Is it still possible for me to earn Globalist status by the end of 2021? How many night stays and/or how much would I have to spend?

Hi Tracey,
Hyatt has lowered the number of nights needed to 30 to qualify for Globalist this year. Your card automatically comes with 5, meaning you’d need to stay 25 nights between now and the end of the year. However, the card also earns 2 elite nights for every $5,000 spent on the card. So if you were to spend $65,000 on your card between now and the end of the year you would have enough elite nights to qualify for Globalist status.

There are two points categories for Hyatt: Base Points and Bonus Points. Hyatt website states only base points count toward globalist status. When Chase Rewards Points are transferred to Hyatt via Chase website, are these points converted to Base Points or Bonus Points? So, can I simply transfer 100k chase rewards into Hyatt and automatically get Globalist status? I would guess not, but would love if that were the case!

Hi Jeff,
When you transfer your points from Chase to Hyatt they are received as redeemable Bonus Points that you can use to book award nights, not Base Points. So you would not be able to qualify for Globalist this way.

If I currently have 98,000 points , will I qualify for globalist at 100,000 points or are stays required?

Hi Pat,
Have you earned 98,000 base points? Or do you have 98,000 redeemable points in your account? You can view your base points balance in your account section on the Hyatt app or website, and they should be right next to your Qualifying Nights.

Reading through the card info on chase site now shows: “Earn 5 Tier-Qualifying night credits toward status and Milestone rewards for every $10,000 you spend in a calendar year.*”
So it looks like it is even easier than before with having to spend $5k for 2 tier qualifying nights.
Or am I reading that wrong?

Hi John,
Earning 5 nights per $10k in spend is for the business version of the card.
