Iberia Visa Signature Card — Is It Worth It?

Those who travel frequently with Iberia and its partners or flyers that travel often between Spain and the U.S. and are looking to score a discount on these flights would likely find that the Iberia Visa Signature card may be worth it for them.

The card doesn’t just help you earn more Avios on all of your spending but also delivers a $1,000 airfare discount voucher each year for those who spend $30,000 or more on the card, solid travel and purchase coverages, and more.

Iberia Visa Signature Card Top Benefits

Iberia Visa Signature Card Travel Benefits

10% Discount on Airfare

One of the best benefits of the Iberia Visa Signature card is the ability to get 10% off economy and business class Iberia tickets.

To use this discount you need to make a round-trip booking through iberia.com/Chase10 and pay with your Iberia Visa Signature card. Better yet, this discount applies on flights commencing on Iberia from any destination. That said, the 10% discount is only applied to the fare portion of your ticket, and is not applied to taxes, fees, and carrier charges.

Either way, if you regularly fly with Iberia, this is an excellent way to save yourself some money on tickets you purchase.

$1,000 Discount Voucher

While this isn’t an automatic card benefit, as it requires you to spend $30,000 on the card within a calendar year, it is a great perk for those that plan to put that level of spend on their Iberia Visa Signature card.

Once you’ve met the spend requirement, you’ll be sent a $1,000 voucher within 4 to 6 weeks, which can be used on any Iberia purchase for up to 12 months from the date of issue.

Iberia Visa Signature Card Protections

  • Baggage Delay Insurance: Reimburses you for essential purchases like toiletries and clothing for baggage delays over 6 hours by passenger carrier up to $100 a day for 3 days
  • Lost Luggage Reimbursement: If you or an immediate family member check or carry on luggage that is damaged or lost by the carrier, you’re covered up to $3,000 per passenger
  • Purchase Protection: Covers your new purchases made with your card for 120 days against damage or theft up to $500 per claim and $50,000 per account
  • Extended Warranty Protection: Extends the manufacturer’s warranty of items purchased with the card by an additional year, on eligible warranties of 3 years or less

Best Ways To Earn and Redeem Your Iberia Avios

You can earn more Iberia Avios by using your card for as many purchases as possible. Further, you can also earn more Iberia Avios by using Amex credit cards that earn Membership Rewards and Chase credit cards that earn Ultimate Rewards, as Iberia is a 1:1 transfer partner of both programs. Your options don’t end there though, there are tons of great ways to earn Iberia Avios.

When it comes to redeeming your Avios, you’ll have plenty of great options, including great pricing on award tickets between the U.S. and Spain, along with the ability to transfer your Avios between the other Avios partners British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Qatar Airways.

Alternative Cards to the Iberia Visa Signature Card

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

If you’re looking for a card that earns transferable rewards, then the Chase Sapphire Preferred card might be perfect for you.

The card earns 5x points per $1 on purchases made through the Chase travel portal, 3x points per $1 on dining, online grocery purchases, and select streaming services, plus 2x points per $1 on all other travel purchases, and 1x point per $1 on purchases outside of these categories.

You then have multiple redemption options when it comes to your points, including cash-back, travel purchases through the Chase travel portal where they are worth 25% more, or through one of the Chase transfer partners, which includes Iberia.

British Airways Visa Signature® Card

If you’re looking to add an Avios earning card to your wallet, but fly more with British Airways than you do Iberia, then the British Airways Visa card is a better option.

It earns rewards at the same rate of 3x Avios per $1 spent on IAG partner flights, 2x Avios per $1 spent on hotel accommodations, and 1x Avios per $1 on all other purchases.

You’ll also enjoy perks such as 10% off British Airways flights starting in the U.S., up to $600 in statement credits towards award tickets, and the ability to earn the British Airways Travel Together ticket if you spend $30,000 on your card in a calendar year.
