Hi! Thanks for all this great info. How compatible are the Venture card points with Chase points? I got my wife the Chase card for the new signup bonus since I’m not currently eligible. I’m wondering if I’m better off just trying to get us more Chase points or to aggregate more points in general and get the Capital One.
Can the two types of points be combined in any way? Or would they be considered totally separate?
Thank you!

Hi Tommy. Excellent choice on securing a Chase Ultimate Rewards-earning card for your wife. The two types of points cannot be combined. This article on the valuation of points might be helpful: /travel/points-and-miles-valuations/ Plus, how to use transfer partners for each rewards currency: /credit-cards/chase-ultimate-rewards-transfer-partners/ and /credit-cards/capital-one-transfer-partners/

Christine, Are there any recommendations about how to best use points accrued from multiple CCs? I’m trying to accumulate points across Chase, Amex, and potentially Capital One but am wondering if there are ways to optimize using those points. Or not!

You might start with establishing your travel goals and then attempt to utilize each type of rewards currency for its best value. For example, if you want to fly business class to Europe, you may look at the transfer partners of each currency (Ultimate Rewards and Membership Rewards) and see which airline works best to accomplish this. Or perhaps you want to fly a family of 4 to Florida in economy class. Ultimate Rewards may work best to accomplish this travel goal or if fares are good, you could use your Capital One card to purchase and then redeem your miles for a statement credit with Purchase Eraser. If you have a lot of miles and want to hire a professional to find the best value for you, I believe we have someone on staff that does that and I can get you his name and contact info. Also, here’s a recent article on booking vacations and vacation packages with various rewards currencies:/credit-cards/best-credit-cards-for-vacations/?preview_id=155453&preview_nonce=ae3f200a22&_thumbnail_id=100475&preview=true

2x miles per $1 on all other purchases
Is for overseas purchases as well or only in the US?
