In 2022, London-based Virgin Atlantic established a partnership with South American giant LATAM by way of a codeshare agreement.

And now, that relationship is being taken further — you’re now able to redeem Virgin points (redeemed through the Flying Club program) to fly on LATAM flights — and you should even be able to find availability to book online.

Here’s what you need to know about this expanded partnership.

Redeem Virgin Points for LATAM Flights

As first reported by AwardWallet, Virgin is now offering its Flying Club members the ability to redeem points on LATAM.

Most importantly, this unlocks the ability to easily book LATAM flights since Virgin Atlantic is a partner of most of the major transferable point programs (Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Bilt Rewards). All of these programs transfer to Virgin at a 1:1 ratio.

The published award chart is below, broken out by both distance-based and region-based pricing depending on the type of flight. Note the rates displayed are for one-way flights.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club offers several niche redemption opportunities at favorable rates, including with Tokyo-based ANA and others. Here’s our complete guide to the best ways to redeem Virgin miles.

Final Thoughts

It’s now possible to book LATAM flights using Virgin points via Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club program. While redemption rates are fairly run-of-the-mill, this option gives travelers an easy way to redeem flights to, from, and within South America.

Typically, it’s fairly difficult to book award flights to and from South America, but this new development in the Virgin-LATAM partnership makes things much more straightforward, despite Virgin maintaining both distance- and region-based award charts for LATAM flights.

However, most importantly, it should be relatively easy to acquire the miles needed to book these flights since Virgin maintains transfer relationships with most of the top transferable currencies.
