Delta Air Lines has announced that it would start nonstop service between its Minneapolis-St. Paul hub (MSP) and Dublin, Ireland (DUB).

Delta says it will begin 5x weekly service between the 2 cities effective May 9, 2024. Here’s a look at the schedule:

Delta currently operates seasonal service to the Irish capital from Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), and Minneapolis, as well as year-round service from New York (JFK).
“MSP travelers are eager for increased air service to European destinations, and we’re pleased to see Delta add nonstop service to Dublin next year,” said Rick King, Chair of the Metropolitan Airports Commission. “This route is important to leisure and business travelers as we anticipate continued international demand into 2024 and beyond.”
The flight will be operated on Delta’s Boeing 767-300 aircraft. It will feature Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin seating.

It appears a potential fare war is on the horizon, which is good news for travelers looking for competition in the transatlantic market from the Twin Cities.
Delta’s announcement comes just hours after Ireland’s flag carrier Aer Lingus said it would begin service between Dublin and Minneapolis-St. Paul. The airline said its 4x weekly service will begin in late April 2024, and it would move to daily service next October. The airline also said it would start 4x weekly service between Dublin and Denver (DEN), effective May 17, 2024.
With the new routes, Aer Lingus will serve 18 destinations in North America.
“Denver and Minneapolis-St Paul are significant business destinations within the US, and the new Aer Lingus routes facilitate corporate links and connectivity between Europe and North America through our Dublin Hub,” said Aer Lingus Chief Executive Lynne Embleton.
None of the flights appear to be loaded in their respective airlines’ systems, but we’re likely to see some competition (in cash and miles) between Delta and Aer Lingus when they appear.
It’s been a busy day for flights to Ireland. With 2 airlines announcing service between Minneapolis and Dublin, we hope we can look forward to competitive fares and more ways to use points and miles between the 2 cities.
