United is offering up to 30,000 miles off on select routes to Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Tahiti, and Taiwan. Unfortunately, this is only valid in economy class, and this sale won’t last long, so if you think you’re interested in going, you’ll want to book soon! The sale is only valid for booking until August 19, and you must travel by December 10, 2023.

MileagePlus Award Sale

Here is a sampling of the sale United is offering:

DestinationFromFare + Taxes
Papeete (PPT)San Francisco (SFO)80,000 miles round-trip, plus taxes and fees starting at $117.95
Sydney (SYD)Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO)80,000 miles round-trip plus taxes and fees starting at $94.25
Melbourne (MEL)Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO)
Brisbane (BNE)Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO)

While United uses a dynamic pricing system for travel, you can expect most round-trip travel to the region to price out around 110,000 miles, so this is a considerable sale allowing you to travel to destinations in Asia and Oceania.

Cities included in the sale are:

  • Auckland (AKL)
  • Brisbane (BNE)
  • Melbourne (MEL)
  • Osaka (KIX)
  • Papeete (PPT)
  • Singapore (SIN)
  • Sydney (SYD)
  • Taiwan (TPE)
  • Tokyo (HND)

There are a few terms you should be aware of, however:

  • This sale is only for MileagePlus Premier members.
  • Award pricing is valid from all mainland U.S. airports, which is extremely generous. Unfortunately, Alaska and Hawaii routes are not participating in this sale.
  • You must purchase tickets by August 19, 2023.
  • You’re allowed to travel until December 10, 2023.
  • There are no blackout dates, which means you can travel over the holiday periods without penalty.
  • To Australia, taxes begin at $94.25, while flights to Papeete will start at $117.95. The taxes can increase depending on the flights and route you choose back.

There’s a limited window to book these awards, so it’s best to book now; if you want to cancel later, you’ll be able to do so.

Final Thoughts

United is running a hefty discounted award sale to Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Tahiti, and Taiwan, available for booking until August 19, 2023. Book now before these sale seats increase in price.
