The Galápagos Islands, off the coast of Ecuador, are some of the world’s most spectacular islands. They’re also some of the most remote, which means it’s not cheap to get there, even if you’re flying economy.

This is precisely why we’re excited to share these fares from Avianca, which is selling round-trip fares from just $540 from New York!

According to Google Flights, these fares are around half the price of what you can usually expect to pay.

Here’s the scoop.

Fare Deal — Details

These super-low fares to the Galápagos are with Colombian national airline Avianca.

As there are no nonstop flights to the Galápagos from the U.S., you’ll have at least 1 stop in each direction in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito (UIO) and possibly an additional stop in Bogotá (BOG) on the return leg.

  • Class: Economy
  • Routes: New York (JFK) to Baltra Island (GPS) via Quito (UIO) or Quito and Bogotá (BOG)
  • Dates: September through November 2023
  • Rates: As low as $540 round-trip

The fares below are the ones we found with the shortest layovers in each direction. But, if you have flexibility with your dates and length of stay, you may be able to find similar prices with just 1 stop in each direction.

This example in October shows an outbound leg via Quito and a return via Quito and Bogotá.

And there are similar itineraries in November, too.

Best Ways To Book

Before you take the plunge and book your bucket-list trip to the Galápagos Islands, consider using a credit card that will reward you for your ticket purchase.

Thankfully, there are numerous credit cards available that do exactly that, and we’ve narrowed down the list in our guide to the top travel rewards credit cards — take a look and see which one suits you best.

Hot Tip:

Booking through an online travel agency (OTA) such as Kayak or Expedia can potentially save you a few dollars, which can seem appealing at the time of booking. However, it’s worth remembering that if you need to make changes or cancellations, the headache that can often come with dealing with an OTA can make the money you saved seem insignificant.

Final Thoughts

The Gálapagos Islands are a bucket-list destination for many, and getting there. can often feel out of reach. However, thanks to these fares from Avianca, that’s not necessarily true. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of these $540 round-trip fares and make this the year you finally visit the Galápagos!
