Does AA terminals still have luggage check in outside the lower drive up area?

Hi June,
Yes, the outside luggage check can be open at times but it usually depends on staffing and how busy the airport is.

We re flying to DFW from Hanoi – Tokyo- DFW next in two months at the end of March. We are American citizens and have lived in COVID-free Vietnam for a few years. Does the USA/Texas or DFW require any traveler information cards or forms for entering the USA related to COVID? Of course we have all the other standard arrival cards and passports, etc.

Hi Alfred,
If you’re flying in before January 26th then you should not need any additional information cards. But as reported by the Wall Street Journal today, the U.S. is expected to put an order in place that will require U.S. citizens returning from overseas to submit a negative covid test.

We will be flying from Chile to Canada through DFW and we understand that we need to clear customs at this airport and re-check our bags right after. Do you know if this is done right after customs or anywhere else?
Also: we will need to change terminals, do we have to go through security and passport control and then re-enter the security area in a different terminal?

Hi Maria,
Re-checking your bags can be done in the Terminal you arrive at right after you get through customs. From there you can transfer to your next Terminal where you will need to clear security and head to your gate. Safe travels!

Great write up on all things DFW. I didn’t see any info on what time security checkpoints open or if coming from the Grand Hyatt. I am both coming from the GH for an upcoming trip but also flying really early. The 520am on United to IAH. I’m just a little worried I may end up going to D (GH is connected to D) and find them closed. Should I go airside to E then come in at E and enter close to United? I like the Skylink there and would prefer to enter at D I think and take the Link but just with the super early flight I am not sure what to expect. Thanks.

Hi Adam,
Usually, security points don’t have a set open time, as it largely depends on the flights that are scheduled for that day.

I have a question. I have a flight this fall from Richmond Virginia to DFW on American. I will have a very long layover (because my original flight to DFW was just cancelled and I have to take a much earlier flight) before I can get on my overnight Qantas flight to Sydney. I’d like to go to museums in FW during my layover. Is there anywhere in DFW airport where I can check my luggage for the day? Or can I check my luggage through from Richmond directly onto the Qantas flight even though the American flight arrives late morning and the Qantas flight leaves at night? Or any chance I could take my luggage to the Qantas counter in the morning and have it checked in then? ( I wouldn’t think so – the Qantas counter is not likely to be open in the morning). Any other ideas?

Hi Beth,
Yes, you can use this service to store your luggage at DFW. Safe travels!

The gentlemen who pushed our wheel chairs were exceptionally helpful, especially since we always seemed to arrive at a terminal at one end of the airport and needed to depart at the other end of the airport. We hope we tipped them enough!
Not the airport’s fault, but it seemed that everyone — ourselves included — was making alternate arrangements with the airlines. Our party had to add a leg to our journey and was four hours late to our destination. One hates to think if we’d missed an overseas flight because of airline problems!
