At the start I thought these were in order of preference or Best to “least best” since Qatar was first. However, I think I am wrong now. These are listed in random order, correct?

Hi Johnny,
Yes, these are in random order.

What about KLM on the 787
Katie Seemann
March 17, 2019
Hi Hamada,
Since this piece only covers 25 airlines, there are definitely some great products that were left out. These types of pieces can carry some subjectivity so I’m sure we didn’t include everyone’s favorite! Hope you enjoyed the post regardless. Thanks for the comment.

Nice piece & fully enjoyed it. But, is there a reason why Turkish airline didn’t make the cut?
Katie Seemann
March 17, 2019
Hi Ethan,
There are lots of nice products out there that aren’t on this list. These types of lists can be subjective so I’m sure we didn’t include everyone’s favorite! So, to answer your question, there isn’t a specific reason that Turkish wasn’t included – there are only 25 listed here so some great airlines had to be left out. Thanks for your comment and I am glad you enjoyed the piece.

Would you let me know which business class airline JFK to ATH offers the most SPACIOUS SEATING as I am seriously claustophobic. I’ll be going in February and am trying to get discounted or senior pricing. Many thanks.

Hey Dorvan, great question. As of now both Norwegian Airlines and Delta Air Lines offer seasonal non-stop service from JFK to ATH. Delta would likely be your best bet as Norwegian doesn’t offer true business class and is largely a budget carrier. Do note that Emirates operates nonstop service from EWR to ATH year-round, and might be your best bet as the airline is known for its spacious economy, business, and first class seating.

We have flown both Air Canada, Toronto to Tel Aviv on a Dreamliner and Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Detroit. We spent 4 hours in AC new Signature Suite in Toronto which was a mini-vacation in itself. The food and service was great and the bed was wonderful. The blanket wasn’t overly heavy. I slept 6 hrs straight which is unheard of for me.
Lufthansa was a different story. We made the mistake of taking the 2 window seats and my husband had to crawl over me to get out. The only food offered at lunch was goose, which didn’t appeal to either of us. The seat in the flat position had a hump in the middle. The comforter was way too heavy. Cold without it and hot with it on. Service was good. We flew home during the day going west so most were wide awake and raring to go. No sleep. We had already been up well over 24 hrs. Exhausting. We are flying Air Canada again to Santiago in January, this time on a 777-Er.

Hi, we are two couples going next year from new york (any airport) to Lisbon and back home via Porto. We have paid for business class airfares with viking cruises. Are there any non stops with decent business class and lie flat seats that arent too narrow…? Thanks!

Hi Lin, you might want to consider TAP Portugal business class, which flies nonstop from New York to Lisbon. You can book them using United miles, Air Canada Aeroplan miles, or many other types of points.

Hi Philip.
Generally, Lufthansa has a much better reputation than British Airways. Thanks for reading.

Hi
Your article is very interesting and useful. I’m looking for ticket business class from Paris to Bangkok in May 2020. Normally I fly with Thai airways but the price is quite high this time. What do you recommend? Lufthansa, Swiss, Qatar, Emirates, Singapore, British, Cathay or Thai? I put in order of the price ( cheapest to highest )
Thank you so much in advance.

Perhaps Swiss Air or Qatar Airways would be the best fit for you!
British Airways is definitely out of the equation, as their product is poor. Lufthansa’s service is very hit-and-miss, while Swiss tends to be consistent. Qatar Airways is obviously a great airline, as is Emirates.

Hmm, this post seems to be reposted in March 2020, though a few key pieces of information are outdated; the biggest ones I could spot were that ANA now offers a much different business class product, and Cathay Pacific now offers mattress pads. A few of these airlines have had new seats in the meantime (e.g. EVA), and I’m not quite sure how the non-“tried and tested” products fare since you’ve made some very general assumptions.
Entertaining post. Some quick fixes to be made before people use this post to book their future travels once this coronavirus crisis is over, though.

I find it strange that you have listed airlines randomly. I have just booked flights for Nov 21 to Sin on Qatar and return from Perth on Cathay. Used your list for my decision.

Would British Airways’ new Club Suite have made the top 25?
Stephen Au
April 08, 2020
Yes it would have! British Airways’ new Club Suite has reverse herringbone seats as well as a sliding door for extra privacy. We’re working on getting this guide updated as soon as possible. Thank you!

It’s always interesting to read reviews on various airlines, and then try them for yourself. More often than not, my own experiences are directly contrary to the published reviews. QSuites is the exception, which definitely lives up to the hype. Most importantly, you should always remember than ANY international business class seat is infinitely superior to cattle class, where 90% of travelers are trapped in a 17.5″ seat for hours on end. First world problems 🙂

No way Lufthansa is above SAS’s A350 or BA’s club suites. Lufthansa’s seats don’t offer a 1-2-1 configuration they offer 2-2-2. This means if you are on a window seat you don’t get direct aisle access as you have to step over the person next to you. On BA with their club suites, you get extra privacy with a sliding door something you won’t see on Lufthansa. Lufthansa also doesn’t offer free wifi for business class passengers something that SAS does. SAS provides much more space on each seat with huge countertops. The Noise-canceling headphones on SAS are much better as they are changed every flight but Lufthansa’s headphones are used flight after flight and rarely cleaned. Those headphones on Lufthansa also are very small and uncomfortable on-ear. SAS also has much more legroom on their new A350 plane. This allows for better sleep and extra space.

Planning on going to Portugal in May 2022. Looking for Business or fist class. Would you recommend British Airways Club Suite, Iberia, or Aer Lingus? Assuming BA as the latter two did not make the list…

Hi Mia,
We’d definitely recommend British Airways Club Suite over Iberia and Aer Lingus business class.

Hi guys!
Booking a surprise trip to Italy for my hubby’s 40th next yr and want to book business since we have a red-eye. Want to do multi-city Boston to Venice and then Naples to Boston (could do JFK too for the right flight and hop on a JB flight to/from Bos).
-Really wanted to fly JetBlue new mint suites but the flight times aren’t great to add a separate ticket to continue on. Can only find the jfk to Gatewick, can’t find the LHR option after Dec. I am mosaic and have plenty of points to pay for this and then some, plus JB is my fav airline
-Best flights time-wise are BA, BUT layover at LHR I have heard is a nightmare, and looks like planes are old suites vs the newer ones.
-Next on my list is the new ITA, but there are zero reviews w them being brand new with about a week into flying so not sure what I’d get w them. The upside of them is that the layover is in Rome so I’m basically there in 1 flight. On the way home I’d have to fly into JFK unless I want a 6am flight out of Naples…no thx
-swiss air & Air Canada are also options rounding out the other options and all of the above are almost exact same price point, around $6200/6300
-Delta had a direct into FCO as my original itinerary was just Rome, Cruise, and then fly home but I have now added on 2 nights in Venice when we arrive and then 4 nights in Sorrento post-cruise. Seems to make the most sense tome wise to fly into/from them directly.
To do that on delta, it’s pricing 11k😳
-looks like there is also an AA option there and that BA flight bk that is in the $6200 range, but gets me into Venice late, 430pm
-Air France, KTM & Lufthansa all have decent flights but are in the $7300 range
Following behind that is Aer Lingus at $5400 and TAP at 4K but TAP has had horrible reviews lately.
What would you pick? Help!

Unfortunately, our flight from Boston to Doha via Qatar Business Class in Q Suites was changed and we were placed at regular business class! Paid extra to have the Q suite and they didn’t even let us know ahead of time. Two more people on our flight had the same issue as well. The next business class will be with a different airline!

We are planning a 3 week trip Sept ’22 from Seattle to Dubrovnik with a 5-7 day stopover in Lisbon. Return will be from Istanbul to Seattle. What would you suggest for lie flat seats? Do you recommend the TAP 5 day stopover in Lisbon option, or fly a European airline from Lisbon to Dubrovnik and Split to Istanbul? Seattle-Lisbon-Dubrovnik…small boat cruise to Split -Istanbul-Seattle
Thank you

On the outbound, TAP Air Portugal has lie-flat seats, and on the inbound, Turkish Airlines has lie-flat seats. Thanks for reading!

For all these Biz class bests, do you know if upgrades from premium economy will be given? OR just purchase them at all “lower/deal” price is the surest way to secure the seat?? I read that Qatar will only offer biz class upgrades on their non-QSuite aircraft. I also read A LOT of advice to just buy [premium] economy tix then upgrade to biz for the best deal.
Stephen Au
February 15, 2022
Hi Violet,
There’s no hard and fast rule. The best way to secure the seat is to pay the amount they are asking for. Premium economy upgrades to business class are not guaranteed, while cheap business class tickets are generally guaranteed in the seat that you want.

April 08, 2022
Hello,
I need your suggestion in regards for upgrading my economy class to Business class (Turkish Airlines). Are the price are the same between online upgrades and over-the-counter at the airport? I’m worried about upgrading online and then getting a positive PCR Test. For sure they will not refund my upgraded business class online.
So what can you suggest? Thanks
Jarrod West
April 09, 2022
Hi Robertson,
There is no telling whether or not the upgrade prices will be the same as flight/upgrade prices are subject to change based on availability. If you’re concerned about not being refunded should you have a positive test, then you might be better off waiting to upgrade your ticket until you are able to take your PCR test. Safe travels!

I am faced with a difficult choice. Wondering if you can help me decide. I have two options for ATL-TPE. I can either do ATL-ICN-TPE with 78k Skymiles + GUC to be in Delta One from ATL-ICN and Econ from ICN-TPE.
OR ATL-SFO-TPE with 120k Skymiles where ATL-SFO is DL Domestic First and SFO-TPE on CI 777 Biz. I’ve been on Delta One from ATL-ICN a handful of times, but never tried CI Biz.
Seeing the mileage difference is 42k, is it worth it to try CI 777 Biz?
Jarrod West
August 15, 2022
Hi Jason,
Personally, I would opt for Delta One and save the additional 42k miles unless you prefer to be in business for the ICN to TPE leg.
