Hi Judit,

That should not be a problem. Just contact the Volaris customer service team and they can assist you with that!

If I change my flight, do I have to pay twice for baggage?

Jarrod West

August 11, 2021

Hi Alison,

If your tickets are on the same Volaris itinerary, then you should not have to pay twice for your baggage.

David

December 17, 2019

We have a two year old. What is your stroller policy?

Andrew Kunesh

December 17, 2019

Hey David, thanks for reaching out. We’re not Volaris — we’re Upgraded Points, a travel and credit card publication. However, it looks like Volaris will let you bring a gate-checked stroller if you purchase the Baby Combo. You can view more info on Volaris’ website.

Can I take a new television in a box as extra luggage?

Jarrod West

June 05, 2020

Hi Leticia,

Yes, you should be fine to bring it. But keep in mind that it might be subject to extra fees based on the televisions size and weight.

Jasmine

September 08, 2020

Can I take a box of clothes? It weighs around 45-55 pounds.

Jarrod West

September 09, 2020

Hi Jasmine,

Yes, as long as the box does not exceed a maximum linear dimension of 62 inches, and is no more than 55 pounds, then you should be able to bring it.

Anita

September 13, 2020

I want to fly to Mexico, how much is the fee for 2 boxes of 55 pounds each?

Jarrod West

September 14, 2020

Hi Anita,

Where will you be flying from?

November 16, 2020

If I bring a new television in the box with me as extra luggage. Do I have to contact volaris before hand?

Jarrod West

November 19, 2020

Hi Isaac,

You should not need to contact them before hand, but you can if it will give you piece of mind.

Lourdes

November 21, 2020

What are the dimensions for a carry on? I’m travelling from Tijuana to Mexico city.

Jarrod West

November 22, 2020

Hi Lourdes,

The dimensions for the carry-on bag should not exceed 22.4 x 15.7 x 12.9 inches (57 x 40 x 33 cm).

Karina

November 28, 2020

I purchased a carry on bag during booking, but I’m wondering if I can cancel my carry on and instead buy a checked bag? Is this possible? If so, where and how can I do that?

Jarrod West

November 30, 2020

Hi Karina,

For assistance with this, you would need to contact the Volaris customer service team directly at 1-(855)-865-2747.

Kathy Mercado

December 02, 2020

Hello,
I bought some volaris Vuela básica tickets and was wondering if we are still entitled to a personal item and a carry on. My family members and I have already added on documented luggage but I have been seeing some information online that has confused me a bit. Hope you can help! Thanks in advance.

Catherine Luther

December 03, 2020

Hi Kathy,

A Vuela Basic ticket only includes a personal item that can measure 14 x 18 x 8 inches (35.5 x 45.5 x 20.5 cm). You can choose to purchase a carry-on separately and the fees are featured in this article.

Kathy Mercado

December 03, 2020

Thank you for the response Catherine!

Lupe

December 05, 2020

If I didn’t buy the baby combo for my child, he is not entitled to any baggage. Is that correct?

Jarrod West

December 07, 2020

Hi Lupe,

That is correct.

Alonso Garcia

December 05, 2020

Can I take an extra piece of luggage.

Jarrod West

December 07, 2020

Hi Alonso,

You can, but you will be subject to excess baggage fees depending on the extra weight and route you’re flying.

Lissette Rodriguez

December 06, 2020

If I purchased an additional carry-on can I cancel if I no longer need it?

Jarrod West

December 07, 2020

Hi Lissette,

You should be able to, but you’ll need to contact Volaris directly in order to receive your refund.

Veronica

December 08, 2020

We want to travel with a 42′ TV? How do we add the extra fee for it? Will it be as an additional luggage or as a sport equipment?

Jarrod West

December 08, 2020

Hi Veronica,

A Tv will be treated as additional luggage and will be subject to additional fees based on its weight and the route you’re traveling.

Lily

December 11, 2020

For international flights, will I have to check in my bags again in the first airport I land in even though I’ll stay in the airport and the wait time is 5-7 hours?

Jarrod West

December 14, 2020

Hi Lily,

Are you flying with the same carrier? If so then they should be able to hold onto the bags for you. If not then yes you’ll have to collect your bags during your layover.

Tracey Winholt

January 31, 2021

In regards to this same issue, we are flying from the USA to MEX to ZIH. If we have to check in again in MEX, do we have to pay again for the baggage?

Jarrod West

February 01, 2021

Hi Tracey,

If your entire trip was booked under the same itinerary/same carrier, then no you should not have to pay twice for your baggage.

Patricia Granados

December 11, 2020

I have a question on personal care lotions since I am under a dermatology treatment and I only have a carry on. Can I take more than 2 bottles? If so, what would be the size for each allowed?
I appreciate your response.

Jarrod West

December 11, 2020

Hi Patricia,

Yes, you should be able to bring more than 2 bottles as long as they are each under 100ml a piece.

Christian Contreras

December 11, 2020

Can I take a backpack as my personal item?

Jarrod West

December 14, 2020

Hi Christian,

Yes, you can bring a backpack as a personal item.

Marisol Contreras

December 21, 2020

I’m traveling to Mexico and I purchased another luggage so I can bring on the plane. I no longer need 2 bags. Can I get a refund for 1 of them?

Catherine Luther

December 22, 2020

Hi Marisol,

Pre-paid luggage is usually non-refundable, but as we’re not Volaris, it’s advisable that you contact the airline directly to confirm.

Alexa Flores

January 13, 2021

I have bought the classic fare for Volaris, which includes a personal item and carry on. I was wondering if I can take liquids like facial care and lotion etc. In my personal bag? And if I were to bring a back pack on my flight home including my personal item and carry on would I have to pay for another personal item?

Catherine Luther

January 14, 2021

Hi Alexa,

It’s fine to transport liquids such as face lotion, providing they adhere to the 3-1-1 liquid rule. Each item must be 100 milliliters (3.4 ounces) or smaller and all items must fit into a single, 1-quart zip-closure clear plastic bag.

If you brought an additional backpack on your flight home, it would need to adhere to the maximum size restrictions of a personal item – 14 x 18 x 8 inches (35.5 x 45.5 x 20.5 cm), and the personal item from your outbound trip would need to fit inside this. Otherwise, you would be asked to check one of your bags as you can’t have 2 personal items in the cabin.

David Martinez

February 13, 2021

Hello, it’s two of us flying back to California, but both our checked bags exceed the 25 kilos limit. But not by more than 5 kilos. How much should we be expecting to pay for the fee?

Catherine Luther

February 13, 2021

Hi David,

Volaris charges around $80 for overweight luggage.

Carlos Sanchez

April 15, 2021

Is it better to buy the basic tickets and pay at the airport for the carry on and the checked bag or is it better to buy the Plus tickets?

Jarrod West

April 19, 2021

Hi Carlos,

That would depend entirely on the difference in the price of the Basic and Plus tickets for the flight you’re considering booking. How much more expensive are the Plus tickets for your flight?

Isabel

June 07, 2021

Will I be able to use a 32x19x13 as my checked bag in Volaris?

Jarrod West

June 07, 2021

Hi Isabel,

This bag is lower than the maximum linear dimensions of 68 linear inches, so you should be fine to bring it as your checked bag.

kyla soto

June 10, 2021

I’m flying out of Tijuana and I ordered the Volaris classic, and I want to add on a checked bag but I’m unable to do it until I go to the airport. I was wondering how much it would be to add it on at the airport?

Jarrod West

June 10, 2021

Hi Kyla,

The charge at the airport should be $45.

S S

July 06, 2021

Hi, I’m scheduled to fly Volaris next month and wanted to know if you allow free baggage for military personnel?

Jarrod West

July 07, 2021

Hi S S,

Please be advised that we are not Volaris, we are Upgraded Points, a website that publishes informative guides for travelers. Volaris does not appear to indicate on its website whether or not they offer free bags to military personnel, so I recommend you contact them directly at 1-(855) 865-2747, or through one of the Volaris social media channels.

Esther Teutle

July 26, 2021

Can I purchase a baby combo at the airport? If so how much will it cost?

Jarrod West

July 26, 2021

Hi Esther,

If you purchase at the airport the charge should be $50.

Carlos Martinez

November 22, 2021

Can I take a guitar in a case as a carry on or does it have to be checked?

Jarrod West

November 22, 2021

Hi Carlos,

That likely will have to be checked as I imagine the guitar case does not fit that carry-bag dimensions.

DeAnn Fulton

January 03, 2022

If I was flying from California to Mexico with 3 x 50lb bags, how much would my luggage cost?

Jarrod West

January 06, 2022

Hi DeAnn,

What ticket type did you book? Basic, Classic, or Plus?

Ceci Fox

March 19, 2022

Can I take a 55” TV as a carry-on bag? I’m traveling to El Salvador.

Jarrod West

March 24, 2022

Hi Ceci,

That size would be too large for a carry-on bag, so you likely would have to check it.
