How far ahead is optimal to get first class award seats? I’ve checked for months at a time as far out as they allow, with zero success.

Hi Christian – for maximum chances of booking these tickets, you want to look out as far in advance as possible which is basically ~11 months ahead. Looking for one person a few months ahead might be successful, but there’s practically no chance for two persons – you need to look a lot further ahead than that. Also, don’t rule out the “waiting list”. We’ve had multiple successes booking 1-2 tickets on a waitlist (ensuring it’s on quiet Tuesday or Weds for example) and they have cleared a few weeks after booking. They can also clear much closer to the day of departure which is obviously a bit nerve racking so you’ll always want to have a backup award seat in place, e.g. business class which is pretty wide open most of the time.

I am curious how you got that flight for only 152,000 miles. It takes 440,000 miles for LAX –> SIN and 334,000 miles from New York to Sydney. That is for the waiting list. Book now is 590,000 miles from New York to Sydney.

Hey Kathy! It was 152,000 miles specifically for that route (not the route you’re mentioning). That was pre-devaluation, now it’s a little more at 167,000 – see a search I just made here. Hope that helps!

I’ve booked the 2c and 2d seats with my husband, do you think they are just the same with 3c and 3D?

Hi Grace,
Yes, on the A380 seats 2C and 2D will be identical to seats 3C and 3D, just directly in front of course. You can check out a seating map of the plane here: https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Singapore_Air/Singapore_Air_Airbus_A380_C.php
Thanks for reading!

The Senator Lounges are actually considered as First Class, not Business Class Lounges. They are open for LH Senators/HONs, *Alliance First Class Passengers and Gold Members. Business Class passengers can use the Frequent Traveller Lounges only. LH’s “First Class Lounges” are seen as Super FC HON Circle Lounges.
