Thanks!! More information on Royal Air Moroc? Also, it appears that South African is not showing on United’s searches these days.

You need to update this to article to reflect the fact that Alaska Airlines IS now part of an alliance (Oneworld).

If United shows availability for United award space but Aeroplan Air Canada does not show the same or any, can a person call Aeroplan to book that award travel?

Hi Sharon,
So long as it is not phantom award space, yes, the Air Canada rep should be able to complete the booking for you.

So just making sure I understand this correctly, if United shows availability for 80,000 miles, you can call Aeroplan to book the United flight using 80,000 Aeroplan miles instead of United?

Hi Alvin,
Not quite. Aeroplan has its own award chart, so the price you see on the United website isn’t the price you’d pay when booking with Aeroplan points. You are simply using the United website as a tool to check for award flight availability, at which point you would call Air Canada and give them the flight number to book the itinerary for you.

Aer Lingus is NOT part of any alliance but can be booked through various partners e.g. BA.

Thanks for the great article! I have tried searching on BA’s website regarding qatar airways and noted there are seats available for certain flights, but none of them were available when I tried to book via asiamiles. Would you have any thoughts on that? Thanks!!

Hi Crg,
It is likely that the flight is bookable with your Asiamiles, but not via the Cathay website. You will need to call the Cathay customer service team and tell them the flight number, date and time you want to book, and they can book it manually for you on their end. Safe travels!

Thanks for the great info! just wonder if it is normal that none of the QR award space shown on BA website was available in the CX asia miles redemption space?
Thanks!!

Hi Chris,
If it is not showing up on the CX website you’ll need to call them and have their agents book it manually.

You can no longer search for Emirates availability on Alaska or Japan

Is there a way to set up an alert for low award flights?

ExpertFlyer is a great tool for that. /travel/expertflyer/
