I flew into Tokyo last October, and I did use my JR Pass for the Tokyo Monorail.

Hi Kirk,
There is no JR station at the Haneda airport, so unless you have previously picked up/exchanged your JR pass, there wouldn’t be a way to use this here.

Hi Christy,
We are traveling to Japan in April. I was wondering if activities like tea session, sumo practice and onsen experience are ideal for us traveling with a toddler (15mons old).
Also, we plan to see Mt fuji and Hakone shrine for a day, what do you suggest on how to get there the cheapest and easiest route.
Thank you so much!
Ps: i love your blog! It’s really informative.

Hi Moe, I’m so glad to hear that you found this post informative! April is a wonderful time to visit Japan.
Onsen are absolutely family-friendly. I would, however, advise you to book time in a private room if possible as onsen are typically quiet places and a toddler may not be allowed in all public onsen. In addition, most tea ceremonies should also be welcoming of the entire family. Sumo practices are a little more difficult, as these have strict rules that typically don’t allow small children, however you can always contact (or have your hotel concierge contact) the specific place you would like to view a sumo practice to inquire about their policies.
For a Mt. Fuji/Hakone trip, you should absolutely look into the Hakone Freepass. This provides transport from Tokyo as well as unlimited transportation in the Hakone area. This pass should make your day trip very enjoyable.
Hope this helps and have a great trip!
